edward
Ho ho ho. I am new to this message board. I am a regular punker. And that means I do not listen to weezer or the weakerthans. So please feel free to ask me any questions about Chicago bands. The Kobanes is the one I am in and I like Off with their heads a lot as well as all the pop punk and even some emo bands from the 90's. I even put out a godstomper 7''. It would be cool if you came to one of our shows. We have two albums and have toured Japan. Phillip Hill recently played bass for us. Please make a donation to him if you can for his hospital bill. steventangent
Ho ho ho. I post here sometimes. I am a grande punker. steventangent
I kid, of course. I'm not really a grande punker. Though I would like to know what exactly qualifies someone as a "regular punker." Just because I think "punk" as a sound has become pretty goddamn myopic. There's a certain expectation involved now that shouldn't necessarily exist if you're familiar with where punk has come from. Every "punk" band has to have some sort of qualifier or extra tag. Every band has to have it's own narrow genre label. There was a time when the "punk" scene encompassed Patti Smith, Television, Wire, The Clash, The Misfits, The Ramones, The Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, The Runaways... a bunch of bands that don't sound a goddamn thing like one another. And now, if something is considered "jus' regular plain ol' punk" it has to have a really specific set of parameters.

lokithelion
For a punker you sure do seem to like whorishly pimping your product in hopes of making other people care about you.

casey
So, let me get this straight. Emo bands from the '90s = OK. Weakerthans (1st album 1997) = Not OK? Judging by the idiocy of this logic, I think OP might be that sickteen kid.
