monk0nuggets
I watched The Orphanage the other day on instant. It was pretty cool. There is also a ton of good nature docs and TV show series on there (Dexter, Weeds, Lost...)
monk0nuggets
Also, bronchitis sucks. I had it for 6 weeks this year. Feel better soon and take some robotussin CF to get that mucus out!

lonesomexloveus
brick! and the orphanage was also a good suggestion!
jhulud
I hope that you start feeling better soon Alan! Suggestions: I got nothing...haven't watched a decent movie in a while.
cosmonaut
Brick is a good suggestion. After Hours is an awesome mid-'80s Scorsese dark comedy about a guy stuck in New York one night. Repo Man Audition The Edukators and although I haven't seen it, Following (directed by Christopher Nolan) looks intriguing.

rno13
The Botany of Desire. It focuses on the relationship between humans and apples, tulips, marijuana, and potatoes. It's pretty damn interesting.

And if inclined after Delicatessen: The City of Lost Children Amelie A Very Long Engagement I'm a huge Jeunet fan...even that mess that was Alien: Resurrection. axlrose
BrickPrimer the host http://xkcd.com/657/ Warning: big image (totally work safe) I have it on my list but I'm really hesitant. The host was okay, even if the ending was a bit corny. They have a ton of Mystery Science 3000 (I suggest Werewolf Nightmare) and Drunken Master with Jackie Chan. flicker
oh yeah, Primer is a total mind fuck, but i think its one of the best science fiction movies of all time.
monk0nuggets
I watched Brick a few weeks ago. Thought it was just ok. I was hoping for a lot more. Not bad, but not great.
axlrose
oh yeah, Primer is a total mind fuck, but i think its one of the best science fiction movies of all time. So...no watching it drunk? What I like from what I've read is that it's a very realistic version of time travel, in that it happens in a sort of "real time" way. I think I'll try to get to it this weekend. lokithelion
oh yeah, Primer is a total mind fuck, but i think its one of the best science fiction movies of all time. So...no watching it drunk? What I like from what I've read is that it's a very realistic version of time travel, in that it happens in a sort of "real time" way. I think I'll try to get to it this weekend. That's probably the best way to describe Primer. Much like Memento you want to make sure you've got your senses about you when you're watching. Primer is much better though. If you're looking for a great movie to enjoy while drinking you much add Command Performance to your list. Dolph Lundgren wrote it, directs it, and stars in it as a the drummer for a nu metal band thats opening for a Brittany Spears like pop star in Russia the night the Russian president is taking his two daughters to the show. Terrorists take over and Dolph lays down the fiery sword of vengeance. At one point he literally kills someone with the power of rock and roll. Mind blowing levels of "Give me another beer" going on in this flick. Silent, based on the horror stuff you like check out God Told Me To, The Dead Zone, Them, Little Otik, Believers, Let the Right One In, Perfect Blue (anime but a brilliant horror thriller), Gozu, Frontiers (top serious watch this evil little movie), Tetsuo: The Iron Man (insane film), A Tale of Two Sisters, and Primal Fear (not horror but great thriller). Everyone should watch My Favorite Year if they have Netflix. One of the lost classics of comedy. It blows my mind how many people haven't seen this. skanknsmile
There is a great documentary about hollywood horror makeup artists. I can't remember the name of it though. Check the Doc section, it has a pretty identifiable cover. EDIT: It's called Fantastic Flesh. Highly recommended.
