northernfailure
I'm thinking about getting the 5x5 one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00071356 Anyone have this? And also does anyone know how many one square holds? I have about 600 12"s (probably 30% of that is 2xLPs and a few with 3 or 4xLPs). jhulud
I had asked this a while back in some other thread. If I recall correctly someone posted that about 45-50 per cube.
kyleevanswastaken
I had asked this a while back in some other thread. If I recall correctly someone posted that about 45-50 per cube. More like 65-75 with plastic sleves, closer to 80-90 without
jhulud
^^ I had the feeling that I was somewhat off...

northernfailure
Oh, nice. Then I'll probably be able to just get the 4x4 version and have everything fit comfortably in 16 cubes.
apeman
Just counted a few random squares in mine. 65+ in all of them (with plastic sleeves).
northernfailure
It will be nice to have shelves again instead of boxes. I just moved 600 LPs plus however many other sized records from one apartment to my new apartment. I feel like the biggest pain of moving is done now, haha. sugarballs
Just reorganized mine last week. I put 70 in each. Some cubes felt a little tight but overall anywhere between 65-70 is the best (in my opinion).
northernfailure
For you folks that have them, do you anchor them to the wall?
desensitizedbyu
I didn't. But I don't live in CA.
desensitizedbyu
Also, make sure you have it standing the correct way.
kurtz
I've got about 65-75 LPs in each square. I have the 1x5 and it's not anchored to the wall. It's pretty solid too. No fear of it falling over.
twelvetwenty
I don't anchor them and they've always been fine... My friend and I were in the market for Expedits a while back and he bought the 2x2 while I bought the 4x4... Within a year or two we each upgraded to the next size. My advice is to get the bigger one if you can fit it. You'll always find a way to use it. Too much space is better than too little.
sugarballs
I have a 4x4 that is not anchored. Mine is also laying on it's side. I would also recommend going bigger. It doesn't take long before you run out of room.
rtw88
Mine isn't anchored to the wall and it's nice and sturdy.
burntwolf
there was a sale on the one i got at the time. 4x2 i guess it is. have it on the side, 4 across, 2 high. not anchored. i think i only have about 50 in each but i really don't like packing in lps too tight. get ring wear if you're not careful. i don't remember if i ever actually counted tho so i could have more in there. xgrantx
Also, make sure you have it standing the correct way. Oh god. That is why I was afraid to get a big one. I like the 2x2's. But you definitely have to make sure the solid piece is the horizontal shelf. I even added 4 additional L brackets to each shelf to make sure they wouldn't collapse. xgrantx
Is that a refused LP in the floor?
xjustinxschwierx
i think the 4x4 one is ok to not anchor it, however, the 5x5, you definitely want to anchor that one, it's fucking massively heavy without anything in it...don't risk that thing falling over on you. apeman
My 5x5 is anchored to the wall, but you only have to attach two fittings, so there's no point in not doing it, since it wont take much time. The fittings have slide-over plastic covers, so don't worry about them damaging any records. Once that's done it stands rock solid.
sugarballs
Just realized I put I have a 4x4 instead of 2x4. So yeah, I have a 2x4 on it's side not anchored. I think I would be nervous to have anything bigger not anchored.
ajxd
So ok, explain to me how that one in the picture collapsed. It wasn't anchored... but have it the right way? I only have a 2x4, so I don't see how the 5x5 can be the wrong way...

The Expedits on both pictures have been placed with them vertically.
