markalark17
I was talking to some guy about records a few weeks ago, and he asked me if I just collected them, or if I listened to them. I almost started laughing, but then I realized he was serious.

melikecheese
If I am at home chances are good its the turntable spinning and not the cd player. I save cds for the car, mp3s for work. I probably spend 1 hour listening to mp3s at home, the other 10 to 20 hours of music when at home comes from the records.
alejandroid
i try and spin at least 2 a day. definitely good to just hang out.
excessiveviolins
because i didn't have a player that worked for a really long time, i couldn't... but now that i went and bought one thats newer and you can send away for replacement needles etc, i constantly have something spinning. jhulud
Related to this thread. I was browsing eBay and came across a record that got my interest. In the description, this stood out: "This LP is in excelent condition. Never EVER played. (I could never bring myself to let a needle grace any of my records.)" :

Guest nickman
The poll results surprise me, in a good way. It's good to see that people are listening and not just trying to make money or collect because it's "in" or whatever. i think all those people represent the other 600 members that haven't voted

Nobody is actually going to admit they don't listen to their records but I have a feeling a lot more people on here are hoarders who treat these more as pretty pieces of plastic rather than a way to listen to music. heavyheavylowlow
I listen to them if I'm setting aside time, but if I'm on the computer or something I usually just play my ripped CD collection. I only have a few records that I don't have on CD anyway. Sorry to be a traitor to vinyl, but sometimes it's just not practical.

northernfailure
I guess I can understand people who collect records just like somebody collects baseball cards or whatever, but that seems kind of weak to me. Personally, I love vinyl. I sold all of my CD's (over 500) and only buy and listen to vinyl now. Well, except for in my car obviously... I have an iPod and a gigantic iTunes library. But I think between my roommates and I, we probably have like 1500+ records in our living room. It's cool to just hang out and listen to records.
