iPhone OS 4.0 announcement on Thursday

Everyone is talking about Multitasking, but I don't think we're going to get it yet.

I don't really know what I want. I don't want full blown mutlitasking, bu 2 apps at a time would be nice. I'd like the ability to get rid of Apple's default apps. I have a page in the back for their apps that I never use, wasting an entire page.

I'm the same way w/ some of the apps that were pre-loaded. They've been relegated to a back page.

Thanks for the update on this...I knew it was coming soon. I figured they would hold off an announcement of a new OS until they were able to simultaneously release a new iPhone. I'm betting multi-tasking and some new Apple apps. Most of which will be for the 3GS and not the 3G.

I really have no need to multitask, though I wouldn't be surprised if some form of it is added. I really have no clue what they're gonna add. It's hard to know without knowing what the next iPhone is going to have in terms of hardware.

And I do believe there's some sort of glitch where you can get rid of their default apps, though it requires you to have all the other pages completely full. (Though once they're gone I think you can get rid of the other apps)

I would like to see an orientation lock. I figure it would be incredibly easy to implement since it's now in the iPad software. Other than that, I have no idea what to expect.

I'd like to see the OS more stabilized overall. As in less lag with the keyboard, less freezing, etc. Also, I'd like to see syncing over wifi for small items (songs, photos, apps under a certain size).

I'd love to have syncing via wifi. It'd be faster than USB too!

This is just a media preview event. There is no scheduled release date as of now.

Chances are it'll come out on or around the time of the new iPhones that everyone expects to be released int he summer.

looking like 4.0 will have 3rd party multi-tasking, which i am very happy about

I'm really hoping for the ability for my iPhone to ring the other 95% of the time that people try to call me. It would also be sweet if it worked reliably in oh, I don't know... major cities? Nothing like playing Brooklyn and not being able to call people that live there.

wouldn't mind seeing maps run a little faster.

and i hate it when you're in an app, and a text message pops up, you accidentally hit "respond". if only the app would remain open.

Ahh so you have this problem too? The past few weeks, random voice mails will pop up even though my phone didn't ring.

Yeah, it's been that way since I got it. Most of the time, people will call, not get me, and just assume that the phone will log the missed call for me to see later. Unfortunately, no...

The ability to get hide some of the pre-loaded apps like the stocks App. Multi-tasking. Improved battery life. to be fair though everything works fine.

I'm more excited about the new phones fingers crossed for a flash!

I'd say it's kind of unfair to want both better battery life and multitasking.

There are only two things that I want my iphone to do that it cannot.

1) I want to make custom ringtones for txts. I don't like how there are only a few to choose from, and they are all half a second long.

2) I want the Maps app to have an option for "Avoid toll roads"

it'd be nice to have the icons be able to turn sideways like they do on the ipad. As well as folders to put certain apps in.

Folders would be nice. I keep my apps sorted by type on pages, but it's a bit of a hassle to keep up to date.

I'd like my phone to actually show my voicemails. I haven't gotten a voicemail in like 3 months on the visual voicemail, and one day I manually checked it, and I had like 25 voicemails. Anyone have this problem? It doesn't even alert me when I have a voicemail, even though it used to.

Thought of another one....I'd like to be able to respond to texts within the popup dialogue box without having to exit the app I'm currently in (I know there is an app for this if you jailbreak).
