adamlikesmusic
I don't think I've ever seen a laser disc before. What do you play them with, a special LD player? Yeah. Mine looks like a tray-loading CD player, except the CDs it plays are 12" across.
desensitizedbyu
I don't think I've ever seen a laser disc before. What do you play them with, a special LD player? Yea, they're big and bulky and sound like a jet engine. My girl's uncle was really into electronics and he had a nice collection and a player. He passed away and all of it was collecting dust and since we had been seeing a ton of great laserdiscs at some places by us, we asked her if she wanted to get rid of it and she said yea. mclz
i thought he was asking for a reason for having a lot of laser discs haha Haha they're cheap! I really do have too many though, around 150. Only thing I ever watched on laser discs were like science videos in 6th grade or something.
circlingvultures
I see them mixed in with records from time to time at thrift stores. I would like to watch one just to see what it looks like.
desensitizedbyu
It's like VHS with no tracking lines or jumping.
circlingvultures
I do like the fact that sometimes they need to be flipped like a record.
desensitizedbyu
On ours you don't need to flip it. You'll be in the middle of watching the movie and it'll just cut and the screen will go black with the message A►B for about 10 seconds then continue. circlingvultures
That's cool. I heard that some do that, I guess there are others that have 2 disc trays for movies longer then one disc.

circlingvultures
is the 6th side blank with an etching?

adamlikesmusic
I've never had an issue with mine, but mine are all fairly new (in terms of LDs). The issues with the glue/laser rot were largely in older LDs. (Also, I assume you meant it's NOT the player? )

pibbals
The cool thing about Laser Discs is they have uncompressed audio! Better than Blu-ray even in most cases!

tokimedo
im moving to the netherlands from virginia at the end of the year, and im afraid the cost to move all my records will be wayyyy too much, so i think im gonna have to sell almost all of em
plasma36
In the 80's, my dad was moving around a lot so he had to sell almost half of his collection over time, both because of how much space records take up and how heavy they get.
