goraiders
I need some advice about the last steps of getting a job. I have two job possibilities going right now. I've had two interviews with job A and yesterday they asked for references, they're supposed to decide this week. Job B offered me the job and said I have to decide by Friday. I think job A is much better, so the question is what do i do? Should I call A up and tell them the scenario and ask if they'll be letting me know before then? Do I ask job B for more time? I don't want to burn that bridge because I'd be more than happy with B if I don't get A. Help me! sorry if this was confusing.
jhulud
Seems to me you have to decide between a secured job offer and a possible job. It's obvious. In these times...a secure job offer is better than a maybe...
lonesomexloveus
let me offer up the old proverb of: a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. or...something. so weird. but seriously, i'd wait til tomorrow, and if i didnt hear from job A, i'd definitely take the sure thing, unless there's some huge salary difference or some other intangibles. who knows; maybe you'd be happier with that job in the long run anyways! xxmartinxx
Take job B and if you get job A quit job B.
thenuthouse
Accept job B, and if you get job A, explain to job B you've received a better offer. Give them a chance to match it.

mcm1610
Not to try and steal the spotlight at all, but I'm in a more stupid situation. I'm about to be offered a teaching job that may require me to miss my during-the-day grad classes. Obviously I take the job, because teaching, and especially social studies teaching, is impossible to break into, but we're 6 of 15ish weeks into the semester and that's like 6 thousand dollars wasted if I can't make the classes work. I don't know how flexible the professors are.
