What this thread really needs is more talk about The Riot Before

yes, awesome band. I'm seeing them Sunday. if they released/release something in 2008 I will post about it.

Riot Before FUCKING KILL IT. I can not express how awesome they were at the Fest. I went in like, "this should be fun" and was just blown away. So much energy, such good music, so fun. I actually became friends with the guitarist who left (Garrett, rad dude). They're totally going to be the band kids will say they were into 2 years ago.

Bump to express my love for these records:

House And Parish - One, One Thousand

RIYL: honestly... I'm lost for comparisons here. I'd say Texas Is the Reason since the band has a former TITR member, but they sound nothing like them... I'm gonna go ahead and say Interpol?

SAMPLE: http://www.myspace.com/houseandparish

BUY: VC has vinyl in stock, including limited/hand-numbered copies on white vinyl - records come with a free CD too: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/vinylhome/Items/arr006-1w?sck=22350094&caSKU=arr006-1w&caTitle=HOUSE%20%26%20PARISH%20%22One%2c%20One-Thousand%22%20LP%20white%20vinyl

FAVORITE TRACKS: All good but right now I'm gonna say Pristine Fields, Summer Programme

^this may actually have been released in 2007, don't quote me on that

and this one, entirely different musically:

Verse - Aggression

RIYL: Have Heart, MLIW, Killing The Dream, Another Breath, Ruiner, political/socially aware lyrics that are also well written and personal

SAMPLE: http://www.rivalryrecords.com/store_detail.asp?mode=RIVAL&catalog_ID=RVL030

BUY: Same link as above, or http://www.b9store.com/product/995

FAVORITE TRACKS: The New Fury; Old Guards, New Methods; Sons and Daughters; Story Of A Free Man (all 3 "chapters")

Both these records are highly recommended.

I'm not positive since I haven't heard the whole thing but judging by the first single (Violet Hill) and the fact that Brian Eno produced it, Coldplay is the one I'm most hopeful about.

Check out the video:

The House And Parish record is an EP, Jon, and it came out in November '07 on Arena Rock.

Thanks for clarification Scott, I thought so but wasn't sure.

I know we're only two months into this year, but I wanna know what has dominated your stereo since New Years Day.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

1. Post the cover art for the album in question

2. Post three RIYL picks

3. Post where people can sample music off of it (legally)

4. Post where people can buy it

5. Your favorite track(s)

For me, it's been this:

I found this album fucking amazing. for anyone that likes soul, r&b, and gospel. It was something i was looking forward to for a long time. I still can't understand why they wouldn't release this album on vinyl.... anyway, i would suggest if you like the stax/chess/motown sound, you give this guy a listen.
