mcm1610
I don't see the overwhelming love for Chipotle. We went there for lunch yesterday and one of the other teachers in my dept. had never even heard of the place, then left feeling underwhelmed. It's an ok burrito, but nothing to go out of your way for.
AdventureIsOutThere
mix and match a few things, the perfect burrito can be made, maybe try a different salsa?
daniel
The perfect burrito is rice, steak, pico de gallo, a lot of medium salsa, corn and cheese. Best thing ever.

pibbals
if you're going on a diet, the best thing you can ever do is start making your own food. Best decision I've ever made.
mcm1610
No, it's not about ingredients, it's about overall appeal. It's just not outstanding or anything special. Maybe it's the fact that Moe's and Salsarita's are around, and those are pretty much the same thing, but when Chipotle showed up people raved about how it's amazing and so much better, when it's the same shit for a dollar or two more. If you're worried about weight or anything health-related, making something healthy at home is your best option by far. Sure, you can probably succeed on the Subway diet or the Chipotle diet, but you can probably do it faster at home.

Guest
I can't cook worth shit, which is why I always end up eating crappy fast food .
mcm1610
It's really not that hard... just pay attention to what you do and if it's terrible, try something slightly different next time. It's all trial-and-error, especially if you're cooking for yourself.

I rate the three "fresh burrito" chains in our area as : 1. Moe's 2. Chipotle 3. Salsarita's Moe's is by far the best tasting and cheapest (they don't charge for chips). I like Chipotle and the fact they only use free range, grass feed animals is a big plus in my book. I was pretty "meh" about Chipotle until I discovered their corn salsa, but I wish they had queso. Salsarita's is awful. It's overly salted to the point where it's almost uneatable.
mcm1610
Yea, I like the idea of Chipotle more than their food. It's fine, and I'm not saying it's bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. But I wish more places took their socially responsible mentality, because it's great.

kgry
If you're eating Chipotle when you have a traditional Mexican restaurant near by that's close in price, you have issues.

I get Chipotle every once and a while -- its not a substitute for real mexican food, its just different.
