birdwell
ok, I'll rephrase it for you. there isn't a borders in Alabama...and though I've traveled out of my state, I've never been to a borders.
kidamnesiac
There were a few Borders in Atlanta when I lived there. Love my Kindle. Love ordering from Amazon. Barnes and Noble remains. Feel bad for people losing their jobs, but I haven't had a need for Borders in years.

mcm1610
I've never been a Border's fan... stores are cramped and disorganized. I lovelovelove Barnes & Noble, though. I'll be pissed when they go under and I have to buy online. Or actually, I should probably shop at Talking Leaves in Buffalo more, those are great people, locally owned. Guest
I've been to a few of them when they are having the going out of business sales, and they usually get picked over pretty fast.

xadamhudsonx
The closing discount is good for stuff like children's books, which aren't ever worth the price you pay for them. They're normally 5-15 pages or less and they cost as much as a new paperback novel. Everything else worth having has been pretty well picked over by now and like it was stated above, you can get better discounts on Amazon or other sites online. riddle350
I get the arguments for Kindles but I just enjoy opening a book and actually turning the pages and all that.

uglyorganist
Didn't mean to start a discussion on the pros and cons of Borders, haha. In my experience, I found Borders to be much cheaper than Barnes and Noble (mainly because I only bought books with 40% off coupons from the newsletter and never got those from B&N). I'll miss it for that reason. What I like about the sale is looking through the books and finding things you didn't expect to buy. Looking for something specific is hard when people put books down wherever they feel like.

tylerrr
I get the arguments for Kindles but I just enjoy opening a book and actually turning the pages and all that. This. I also enjoy seeing the books I've read on my bookshelf. I stare at lit up screens enough as it is I don't need another one to stare at when I want to read a book. 6heart6breaker6
there were two borders by me and a barnes & noble that all closed down in the past year and a half. kinda sucks. it was something to do if you were bored, but i wasn't an avid borders-goer. Finding books at a bookstore is like finding records at a record shop. can't beat it.

AlexH.
I live within 3 blocks of 4-5 small bookstores with good prices, and I've got Amazon Prime for anything I can't find there. Massive shrug @ a big book chain with so-so prices going out of business.
