ALEXISONFIRE REUNITE FOR A 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY FAREWELL TOUR

VINYL BOXSET SPANNING BAND’S CAREER COMING THIS FALL

(August 9, 2012) – ALEXISONFIRE has always taken pride in keeping promises to fans. Exactly one year after the members of Alexisonfire announced they were going their separate ways, the band has announced a 10th anniversary Farewell tour. Spanning the month of December 2012, beginning in London UK and ending in Toronto ON, the tour touches down on four continents in 24 days, including their first and only performance in South America.

Alexisonfire will be hosting a PRESALE for the tour, with a limited number of VIP ticket bundles available for each show that include a Meet & Greet with the band, and other limited items. The PRESALE will begin August 14, with general public on-sale following on August 17. Fans should keep an eye on the band’s website and social media for more information.

The band is working on a discography, vinyl box set which will include 12” LPs of each studio release and out of print 7” EPs including, but not limited to, Math Sheet Demos, Crisis b-sides, Insulation Tapes, BBC Sessions. The box set will also feature a photo booklet and other exclusive items. More information will be released in the coming weeks.

Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. They released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals has reached Gold certification.

Alexisonfire’s success reached beyond Canada’s borders. The band topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Exclaim, Canadian Musician). They performed on the main stage of legendary festivals like Reading and Leeds and took over native Toronto, ON for a 6 night stay boasting over 9000 tickets sold, and sold out tours in Canada, US, UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

“I think that there was a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the last Alexisonfire tour. Now that the dust has settled, and everyone has gone down their separate paths, I think it's important to get proper closure on 10 years and share it with the our fans. After this we can leave Alexis in our rear view and remember it fondly, not as something we had to escape.” – George Pettit

"As promised in 2010 – we’re back for a Farewell Tour. We know that this tour doesn’t reach all of you, and this list is sure to cause some disappointment, but know that we have done our best to fit what we can into this window of time. December 2012 is the only time that all 5 of us aren’t committed to something in our personal or professional lives. An entire month!!!!

We couldn’t be more excited to get on the road and travel and hit the stage one last time – most importantly we wanted to keep our promise to you guys. We’re going to be playing till the venues try to kick us off the stage. We’re talking 20+ songs a night.

We said we’d return for some proper farewell shows. And here they are."

No Vancouver? Seriously? I hope you can't buy vinyl at these shows cause then I'll be super super pissed. We are still owed a free show from the chaos that was the free show during the Olympics that had to be cancelled.

Kinda choked about that too, but I'm going to try and road trip it to Edmonton/Calgary.

If there are show-exclusive releases I'll try and bring some back and drop them off for you on the way back? :P

Totally buying the boxset, whatever the cost.
