I watched Offseason last night and thought it was a nice way to spend part of a Monday evening. Nothing amazing, but if you like 'something weird is going on in this small town' stories, it's worth the watch.
Kids are back in school so I'm getting a bit of time to myself to watch movies again, so I watched this with my pup this morning. I dug it, agree it was worth watching.

What Josiah Saw was pretty good in a bleak AF southern gothic kind of way.

Not horror, but genre-weirdness and the smartest thing I’ve seen in ages - absolutely check out Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes when you get the chance. It made my head spin a bit when it clicked what the director was doing and just how damn difficult it must have been to pull off. Absolutely wonderful.
This is on Prime now and I still cannot recommended it highly enough. Go in blind if you can, trust me.

I watched Prey on Friday night and wow, that's a heck of a movie! Easily the best Predator movie since the first.
Yeah, we checked that out over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Great flick, lots of fun.

I think Hatching comes to Hulu tomorrow. Probably gonna watch that this weekend
I watched this a while back. It was fine. Certainly not what I expected; closer to Greener Grass than horror in my opinion, but the color scheme and repressed dialogue informed that more than the plot (I liked Greener Grass quite a bit more fwiw).
Did you ever watch RRR?!?

I'd love to see the average cost / CD overlaid with the rise in sales; people dumping their CD collections for cheap as digital become the go-to *and* with the rise in vinyl popularity <> mean that CDs are making a comeback. Now, if sale price is flat or rising than maybe the case can be made, but I doubt it - count of CD sales alone is kind of a meaningless statistic.

I was a little slow on the GITD but I do like the other variant more.
Can you tag me if the FF vinyl or remaining BH vinyl ever goes up?

Watched a movie on Amazon Prime last night called “Butterfly Kisses.” Came out in 2018 and it’s basically a “found footage movie of a guy who finds footage.” Focuses on a urban legend called the “Blink Man.” Basically if you stare down this tunnel for an hour, the Blink Man appears and every time you blink he gets closer and closer. It was fairly original and had a pretty good amount of suspense. Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re into found footage at all.
Yeah, I dug this one when I watched it last year. Brought some decent ideas to the genre.

I watched Crimes of the Future last night and it's a mild letdown. It feels a bit more like a rough draft than a finished script. Still a lot to like if you're a Cronenberg fan, but it's not his strongest outing.
I've got this sitting on my server to watch; I'll still check it, but that's not the best to hear.

Mad God is up on Shudder now. Any of you guys get a chance to watch it yet? Not sure when I’ll get around too it myself. My wife is also very weird about animated stuff. Especially stop animation. Freaks her out a lot 😂. For someone who likes horror just as much as me, she’s pretty damn picky.
I watched it through other channels a few months back and really enjoyed it. It's definitely got a narrative going on, but it's much more akin to viewing a huge art installation; it's surrealist and weird as hell and I thought it moved quickly for something that's basically entirely free of dialogue. Not surprisingly at all but it's an absolute visual marvel.

Watched the new Mattie Do film “The Long Walk” (great write up here: https://www.polygon.com/reviews/22962239/the-long-walk-review-mattie-do) and was really impressed with it.
Bringing this forward to note it will be on Shudder starting 07/05.

This makes me even more curious! How's the 3 hour runtime?
It’s pretty damn brisk. There’s a bit of lull right after the halfway mark (in the theatrical version there’s a 15 minute intermission, the lull is right after the intermission but Netflix doesn’t have the intermission title-card); however it promptly speeds back up and goes hella hard right through the end.
It’s seriously so much fun. -

Man I don’t know if I can convince my wife to watch it with me. She’s not really into “over the top, ridiculous action” movies. Which sucks cause then I gotta find time to watch it on my own haha.Over the top action / soap opera / Bollywood musical 😍

Also saw RRR was on Netflix so I may have to get on that. I’ve heard great things.
As a follow-up to this, I convinced my wife to watch this with me this past weekend and her response afterwards was "why would I ever want to watch anything else after seeing this?" 😂 It was just as much fun on a re-watch, and hearing her laugh ( a "you can't be serious" laugh, not a bad laugh) throughout was fun as well.

Now that cornetto sold out there's a picture disc up - https://mothica-us.myshopify.com/collections/music/products/nocturnal-vinyl-lp-picture-disc - this one doesn't list a quantity like the other two. It also doesn't really look like a picture disc (it *does* look really cool though) but you can't see much of it from the listing.

Last night watched Candyman (2021) and it truly felt like a proper & logical sequel to the original. The storyline & twists that not only revived & expanded the mythos and internal urban legend, were all done phenomenally & with evident care. And the subtle references & easter eggs that brought it all full circle to the original were fun to catch.
The way the visuals were handled with mirrors & reflective surfaces gave me chills at a few spots. And…spoiler alert (maybe?)…how the bee sting infection spread…oof…that gave me the heebie jeebies.
I really really dug the new Candyman. Thought it was smart + great.

Damn this is really disappointing to hear. Host was one of the better horror films I’ve seen in the past couple years. I’ll still probably check this out but I’ll lower my expectations a bit.Yeah, I absolutely loved Host, was hands down the best horror flick of 2020 for me (well, pure horror; my favorite overall film from 2020 was After Midnight) so this was a huge letdown for me.

Anyone seen Dashcam yet? Reviews suggest it’s been pretty divisive, though I’m trying not to spoil myself too much on the plot.
Literally a minute after I responded a couple days ago to this I found this uploaded on the tracker I use - watched it last night; quick thoughts:
Pedestrian shaky cam found footage with a distinctly unlikable main character. Unlikable can be fine but this is just her being unlikable for loooong stretches of the film. Super disappointing follow-up to Host, which managed to be a lean and well-thought found-footage film that used every vignette to great effect, where as this is mostly aimless rambling mixed with frantic running / blurry shots of the ground whipping past and maybe a bloody hand here or there.
(I should point out that I love found footage films, but this one just did not work for me)

They also have the indie exclusives of Visitor and Volunteers for $20.78!

Ah, thanks. I bought the other version cause I was off camping when they went on sale and the band version had sold out, I guess I didn’t pay enough attention to what this one looked like. Ugh, turns out I really like the (now) $100 version better 😬

How many extra copies of this thing did they have? It's like the third or fourth time they've put some leftover copies up
Isn’t this one a completely different variant? I thought the other two were like pink and blue? I dig this variant, at least the mock-up makes it look appropriately moon-like.
(but they certainly did keep re-stocking the other version; always seemed to come and go quickly, like they were cancellations or something)

Is this finally available somewhere to rent/stream? I've been wanting to check it out for a while.
Not horror, but want to throw it out to the regulars here as it's got a special over-the-top / batshit quality that's always fun: me and my bud went and caught the Indian flick RRR last night and it's the best kind of nuts. It was such a blast.

We checked this out last night, it was pretty good. I definitely thought that the medium is better, but this was still enjoyable and had some decent ideas.
