  1. Bought both the moment I got the email earlier - will have to dig my cassette player out of the closet to spin the tape but am certainly stoked to check it out.
As someone who got into them in like late ‘98 right before they imploded I just have to say that I’m beyond excited to *finally* get to see them live this year. Have seen SM a couple times but to see some of my favorite songs played live after 20+ years is a damn dream.

Fuuuuuuuck Malenia. Whoever designed that is a psycho. Two phase boss fights can burn in hell. That one hit KO divebomb she does immediately after spawning is horrible. The Radahn fight is the one that pisses me off the most though. Probably the worst boss design I have ever seen in a game.

Honestly i hated Elden Beast the most.  Way too many (almost un-dodge-able at times) AoE attacks with *constant* jumping around a huge arena that drains your stamina just travelling to get 1-2 good hits + a *huge* health pool.  Having to beat him during journey 2 and 3 was misery.

Oh yeah, I remember you posting about that around release. I’m glad you are healed up and get to play now. I’d like to do a full strength build at some point. It just worries me due to the bosses being so fast and 2h strength weapons being pretty slow. Even running a dex build with Moonveil was a pain in the ass to land hits sometimes.

Yup, no splint or anything for a couple weeks now, and mostly back to full strength.

And totally fair on the speed of some bosses.  Only way I beat Malenia was with a +25 Katana + Seppuku and speed bleeding her to death.  I certainly want to hit all the bosses again with whatever build i finalize, but some certainly are *speedy*.  Malekith was probably the toughest for me even with the dex build, as he just uses so damn much of his arena and is so damn quick.

I went way too crazy on that game in such a short period of time but can’t wait until I am in the mood to make a new guy. I think I hit 100+ within the first couple weeks of release haha. I’m going to make a faith build next. My first character was dex/sorcery and sorcery was really disappointing to me.

I'm disappointed with sorcery so far myself - i might respec to a pure strength / great club-smash build here soon and just go and clobber the shit out everything instead.  I'd have easily clocked 100 hours in two weeks but i broke my wrist three days after release and it took 5 weeks for me to get back to being able to play unencumbered.

After 110 hours I finished up my journey 3 on Elden Ring and the platinum trophy this afternoon. Despite some minor quibbles (firmly looking at the last boss) it’s definitely one of the best games I’ve ever played and I’m already thinking about starting a whole new character tomorrow 😂

Update - I didn’t even make it to the next day and made an astrologer that evening (I was a dex build my first run through) and have been loving my new run…

  6. We watched See For Me on Shudder last night and really enjoyed it. About two thirds of the way through my wife said to me “this is very stressful” and I honestly asked how she expected *anything* different from the two line summary of the film. She said she didn’t know, she just expected it to be “kind of dumb” 😂 - its worth a watch; it positively flew through its 90 minute runtime for me.

I’ve felt that way about their prices in general for a lot of their stock, especially over the last couple of years.  Notably for imports, yeah.

Is Norman even cheaper than the Ride webstore?  I guess if you buy all 3 and opt for untracked shipping, it could break down a bit bettter.  Norman has better sticker prices but the Ride shop had better shipping, I remember thinking they were sort of comparable.

Buying all three from Norman + paying the extra £5 for tracked *still* cost me £10 less than buying from Ride directly.

(also, these are pricey and I know Norman is solid/dependable in shipping stuff to me and getting it here unharmed; Ride might be perfectly fine as well but I don't want to find out different here in like 12 months...)

The Ride reissues are up at Rough Trade NY

I ordered from Norman Records in the UK instead. It was a couple of dollars cheaper than Rough Trade and I know they'll remove the records from the sleeves when they pack up the records. Rough Trade won't do that so there's no guarantee they won't arrive with seam splits.

Yeah, my order from the UK is basically the same price as rough trade NY so I’m just leaving it alone.

Damn.  That would probably explain – if true – why literally no one has this up after 10 hours or so.  Usually at least someone – Bull Moose, Zia, etc. – will have an early morning drop available by noon, if they're getting them.

Yeah, I spent the whole day intermittently  checking my email / Reddit expecting to start seeing the flood of US shops listing it.

Wichita's putting these out so there's a strong possibility they'll be available in US shops.

Who knows if this is correct (and even if it is it doesn’t mean it won’t change), but the BV article about these from today states: “Unfortunately these Wichita reissues are UK only, but their web store does ship to North America.”

i was going to wait but I went ahead and just ate the higher shipping.

Mike Flanagan tweeted that it was his favorite movie he’s ever seen.  Which is crazy high praise.  I wasn’t sure how I felt about it after first seeing the trailer but from what I’m hearing from everyone, it’s pretty much must see at this point.

Also, “X” goes up on demand on Thursday.  I think the blu-ray already comes out next month too so I might actually just wait for that.

I'm honestly in awe of how great Everything Everywhere All At Once was, positively dumbfounded.  I immediately told every one of my friends that they should see it with no hesitation.  It's stunningly great, and I genuinely thought seeing it in the theater only made it better - it's *really* funny and being in a crowd collectively losing their shit only made it all the more enjoyable.

I saw that X is going on demand, so now I'm trying to figure out if I want to drop the $20 on seeing it now or just wait a month or so to where I can rent it for more like $6...  I might drop the extra cash because I want to see it a great deal.

Okay so we watched The Devil’s last night and it was uh… underwhelming.  Not as a whole, because the movie itself was actually fantastic.  But in terms of “fucked-up,” it was pretty mild.

Turns out the most fucked up part had been edited out years ago and the only way you can see it is in some kind of documentary about the director or in some out of print DVD release.  Oh well. Like I said, we still enjoyed it quite a bit.  Were just hoping to be more “shocked.”

This is basically what i've read as well.  Even via nefarious means i've yet to find an actual unedited version of this, which is a bummer.  I *do* need to watch this - i skipped last time shudder had it up - but i'm less exicted for it vs if it was the original version.

  13. My buddy couldn’t swing a movie tonight so I’m likely stuck waiting to watch X at home 🤷‍♂️
Friday night we watched Prevenge on Shudder which was an entertaining enough black comedy, and we watched You Are Not My Mother last night which was a solid Irish horror flick made better by a couple strong performances from the two leads.
