  1. I'd say try Locrian. I don't know a ton about them but I like everything I've heard, and they have a nice mixture of influences. Eternal Return reminds me of M83 and Inverted Ruins is straight up power electronics worship.

They seem to move all over the place in the realm of dark music.  I'd recommend either Return to Annihilation or the Mamiffer collaboration as a good starting point and going from there.  I haven't gotten through all their material, but I've liked almost all of it quite a bit.

Thanks, guys. I've asked for recommendations from other people before and their name always seems to come up. I'll definitely check 'em out.

    kvlt story bro

  2. The only time I see people treating Kayne like anything but the dumbass he is is on here. Maybe I don't get around much but damn.

He is actually damn-near universally praised by the critical community for some reason.

I don't get it either. Kanye's a good producer, but he's a terrible lyricist. And while it's not relevant, he's basically the most thoroughly annoying person alive.

On topic: This Kendrick album is very good.

  3. Gotcha'.  That makes a lot more sense.  I'd be grateful for either new Giles or the S/T before the year is over.  Perfect Fall and Winter jams over here.  It's a win-win, so long as they adhere to their estimated completion goal.

Agreed. I can't even handle all the shit that's going down in 2015. It's genuinely ridiculous. Like some creepy ancient music-related calendar syncing up before the sun explodes or something.

  4. I could be wrong, but I think there have been several mentions of the Giles Corey S/T bring pressed onto vinyl this year. Finally.

    No, I got that.

defectiveepitaph was just saying that it sounded like Flenser might not get it out until the end of the year. I'm thinking the interview question was about a second Giles Corey album, not a S/T vinyl release, which should be out MUCH sooner than that.

But I could be wrong. Things can get sketchy.

  5. There's plenty of quiet passages on the album too, it'll fit.  It's primarily mastering that makes a record sound great.

Yeah, it's nothing to sweat about. Deftones' last album was the same length, much louder music, on a single LP, and my copy sounds surprisingly great. Hell, I've got shorter, quieter albums that have more inner-groove-distortion than that one.

  6. Anyone here listen to the Legrand Society interview with Flenser? The last question was "what is the release date for the Giles Corey LP," and they basically said "by the end of the year hopefully."

Well, that leaves us with a lot of waiting & wondering....

    Whoa, hold on a sec.

It was that interview with Dan that they advertised on Facebook, right? (I didn't read, not a subscriber.)

Was it clear that they were talking about the S/T vinyl release? Because Dan's also been working on a second Giles Corey album that a lot of people are asking about.

  7.

Could anyone point me in the direction of something similar? I'm embarrassingly green when it comes to black metal.

I definitely dig the slower, more textured stuff, but I've been trying to get into some of the more experimental/noisier stuff too. Harsh vocals no longer bother me at all, but super obnoxious drums are still mildly annoying. Where's the band for meeeeee?

  8. That photo is a fake as well? I know it's all too easy to set up a faux playlist - especially when we don't even have the proper track lengths - but I guess I just don't understand the point.

Mostly for trolling /mu/. There's literally like 5 fucking threads on there full of assholes spamming fake DL links, commenting on each others' posts like "oh dude! 1st track is dope af!".

Just browsing that fucking site is slowly making me hate music altogether.

  9. 2 years ago, I would've resisted the urge to download a link ahead of the release date. Now I don't even think twice.

I'm gonna pick up a physical copy no matter what, I'm not going to deny myself the opportunity to hear an album I've been dying to hear for months. And most artists are slowly adapting to the fact that a lot of people just don't want to pay for music period.

That said, any news of a leak this soon is probably bogus.

  10. I think a lot of what Sige is releasing is very strong.  I really like Colloquial Sound Recordings as well, but they do primarily tape releases.

CSR is top notch. Get on it

Think it'll be hard to top 2014 for the Flenser.

So far Profound Lore is top notch this year. Sumac, Leviathan, Pyramids, Prurient, and who knows what else is on the way...

Thanks, errbody. Will give everything I can a listen.
