  1. Got mine today, truly great quality. Dead silent and the remaster sounds awesome. Packaging is really nice, gatefold folds nicely without any weird pinching.
  2. If you have a crappy light platter then maybe it'd help but you'll wear the motor and bearings faster. Like said above, get a clamp. You want to couple the record mass to the platter, whether you'll hear the difference or not is debatable.
  3. $5 would be incredible but no chance for international shipping.
  4. It'll probably sound fine but after a few plays the stylus will probably play through it and wear it away. Signing records like that is lame anyway unless you aren't going to listen to them and frame them.
  5. I bought a VG+ copy of a Jeru The Damaja LP from Discogs. I pick it up from the post office, he sent is in a plain paper envelope. The corners were destroyed and the LPs had groove damage so bad they had white strips where the groove walls had been totally destroyed. The guy wanted me to return it at my expense! I just told him to fuck off and keep meaning to bin it but never had the heart yet.
  6. Release date is the 12th but the store says in stock and would be dispatched today? Strange. Not getting my hopes up mind, probably just an automated store display.
  7. Mine came today, it's the orange white split /100. So fucking happy.
  8. Because wood glue or RCM are by far and away the best and most proven methods. Spinclean is OK but don't expect anything major. I used to use cloths and fluids and you basically just make records look cleaner, does nothing to the dirt in the grooves that makes the noise. RCM physically pulls the dirt out.
  9. People still listen to vinyl records? They're like so old fashioned.
  10. 180g is just an excuse to charge you for more material at a higher rate than they pay for it in cost. Squeezing extra profits.
  11. The only expedits I've ever seen collapsed are by people with very low IQs standing them on their sides so the braces for the shelves are horizontal. That meant all the weight was resting on the wooden dowels. Natural selection.
  12. Glad they had UK store, no stupid postage prices. This is one of the best LPs ever for me.
  13. As soon as you start hearing sibilance change your stylus if alignment can't solve it.
  14. Every moving magnet cart has a rated mV output, the 2M Red has a rating of 5.5mV which is quite high. Those Ortofon DJ carts you were running were probably quite crude and high output. Just turn your volume up higher man. The DJ S is rated at 6mV with a spherical stylus.
  15. Brushes just make the record look nice and clean without really removing surface noise, you need something that will pull dirt out of the grooves. That is why people swear by cleaning machines and wood glue. These are the only methods I've ever used that properly remove pops and clicks.
  16. 10 page thread on Vinylengine with heartbreak stories.
  17. I can't afford a lot of things in life I'd like, deal with it and learn that there is more to life than buying loads of shit.

  19. Wood glue is the only method i haven't tried on this, it may work. Worked miracles for other records of mine. Worth noting that this outgassing seems to be relative to temperature, this never happened to me in the ice cold UK. Warm room with PVC sleeves seems to be a disaster, if you pull a record that has lived in a PVC cover the sleeve always feels sticky.
  20. PVC outgassing, this is why you don't put records in PVC covers.
  21. Huge multinational corporation wants money upfront for overpriced records shocker!
