  1. I think the Zero single was probably one of my top 5 most listened to CDs in like 9th grade. I love that thing, and the other singles are all great too.
  2. Not exactly record related, but the guys at Needle Doctor were amazing in helping me with an order. Despite having Paypal shit the bed on their website, they took care of everything over the phone, and helped me get the issues sorted with Paypal. Then I got my order 2 days later. Fantastic dudes there if you need turntable related supplies.
  3. I don't think it was a mishap if it happened more than once and stayed at the crazy low price for weeks. That thing just didn't fucking sell and Amazon.ca needed to move some units.
  4. I don't remember if this was said yet (or if I said it), but... The Smoking Popes - Destination Failure And while we're at it... The Influents - Some of the Young
  5. Just grabbed a Dan Andriano test pressing from Mike a couple weeks ago before this store went up.
  6. Since this is sort of _the_ Alkaline Trio thread... Got my copy of Agony & Irony from SRC today. The vinyl is a nice opaque red, nice labels. The jacket itself is kind of... Dissappointing. It's a tri-gatefold and was already torn at one of the folds when it got to me, and has since started ripping in another spot just from the weight of opening it. Also, the band name, where it says "ALKALINE TRIO" in white is actually just a sticker on the polybag, which is kind of cheesy. All in all, I'm glad I have it now, but for $30, I kind of expected more fit and finish. Even the lyric book, while nice, is about as plain as possible. No photos, no color inserts, just text. Part of it is that I just think tri-gatefolds are kind of shitty even with 3 records, but doing it with only two just seems dumb and unwieldy.
  7. God dammit man. You know how to makes us nerds salivate.
  8. I was about to ask for your address so I could break in and steal your impossible copy of Head Trip In Every Key.
  9. Local record shop just had it in their used section. Goes for $75 - $100 on eBay, easily. I think they just thought it was a green vinyl pressing that someone lost the jacket from. It was just in a clear baggie. I tossed it in a new inner sleeve and put it in a blank white LP jacket and it's as good as new.
  10. Don't worry. The moment I pull the trigger on the one in my Discogs cart for $450, TMR will announce that they're repressing it.
  11. Picked up a transparent green white label promo copy of Dookie for $18. Score? Score.
  12. Yeah, I would assume storing the LP behind (rather than IN) the jacket would just make the ringwear look way worse over time. At least on the side of the jacket touching the LP. Obviously, it's not going to cause a problem if it's just for shipping, but storing them inside the jacket long-term seems to make more sense to me. The biggest benefit to storing them outside the jacket is to eliminate seam splitting during shipment, which isn't likely to happen if they're just sitting on a shelf. I also like those rice paper/poly sleeves that Moonbeams linked (and I've gotten a few records from him using them). They're nice, easy to slip a record into, and they really cut down on static. I've got a couple of records with heavier, stiffer frosted poly sleeves that are also really nice. They're stiffer, so they're easier to insert into the jacket without crumpling, and they also seem to do a nice job of eliminating static. Something like these: http://www.clearbags.com/bags/album/12-1-16-x-12-1-8-lip-frosted-inner-album-covers-100-pieces-blpfs.html
  13. I prefer to ship records that way, but storing them like that in my personal collection seems way too crazy.
  14. Photos of the box set are popping up on Instagram. I think the vinyl colors are pretty ugly, but other than that, it's a great looking package.
  15. I honestly can't tell if you're pretending to be obtuse. If not, he's just talking about crystal clear ("glass"-like) poly sleeves, as opposed to those hazy, slightly white-ish poly sleeves that you usually find.
  16. My USPS guy is pretty rad. He usually sees me when I'm taking my dog for his morning walk and hands over my records then. My UPS guy is also pretty great, but UPS is fucking ridiculously overpriced for mailing records.
  17. I've had everything from 2 days for FL to NJ, to 2 weeks for Chicago to NJ. Media mail still rocks for bang-for-your-buck, though.
  18. My gold whale, readily available but expensive as fuckall:
  19. I like that. For records that are easy to find, thanks to the Internet, but are just lots and lots and lots of fucking money.
  20. I hate stories like that. mainly because I have my own fair share of them. A friend of mine back when I was leaving high school offered to sell me his clear Decline for $20, but I was moving at the time and wanted to save the money for rent at my new place. And now I could sell that record and pay for a month's rent right now in the blink of an eye.
