  1. You shut your damn mouth heathen. I thought it was cool that Mark Levinson was finally putting out a table... but it was designed by VPI. Killed it for me. BUT the VPI Avenger Plus is insane. Has so much of the trickle down technology from the Avenger Reference table, and for 1/3 of the cost. No, I will never own a $10k turntable, but its still cool to see what the can offer.
  2. After all these years, you finally see through to the real me.
  3. $800 is a bit limited for everything, unless you're buying used. I'd recommend the Debut Carbon (tons of people here use em). An integrated amp (lots of people like the Marantz PM series; make sure it has a phono channel). Speakers are kinda all over the place, if you can find Definitive Technology SM350s (for a while, clearance price of $180, typically $500 new), you'll be set. Don't forget to budget some money for accessories/cables. Speaker cables/interconnects/stands/etc..
  4. Welcome to the dark si-- wait no... I do wonder what you'll think going back to SS after all this time.
  5. Marantz TT15S1 b stocks are $1k. Can't get a better table. There's about 6 of us with em now. And slinch if you bad mouth VPI again we're going to build a wall around you.
  6. Don't buy any. But it from me (after I make sure I still have my kit). I'll check tonight and let you know.
  7. Give an actual budget. Something that is "non-expensive but not really cheap" means nothing.
  8. If you want to stay active, get the KEF LS50 monitors that are coming out soon.
  9. I vote to change this topic to whether the UK or the US has better English. I say US. Allen?
  10. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Everyone can have fancy setups. Just allocate your money differently. Want $1k TT? Don't spend money on records, coffee, hookers, etc.. I've met poor audio techs in cinemas who make $20k/yr who have killer setups. I BELIEVE IN ALL OF YOU.
  11. "... a device that takes pops and clicks out of records without damaging them. "
  12. RIP Shaizada He died after he slipped on the one square foot of flooring not dedicated to audio.
  13. If you get rid of the wife and kids... then you solve that problem. Think about how many records/pieces of equipment you have, vs how many wife and kids you have... It's a numbers game.
  14. Don't use Aquafina, its essentially tap water. Distilled, deionized water is the best. Neutral pH.
  15. Bjorn get out of here with your headphone wantin' ass. I would just stop and consider how often you actually use em. You can always buy a nice tube kit to make a mini amp? Double the fun? Since I know you enjoy crafting for your audio.
  16. I bought my first 1060 for $75... granted this was 2008. If you were to spend $275 on an integrated... get something more modern.
  17. I could be wrong, but the MLs need a LOT of room. More space behind and to the sides. Also the TT... what cart?
