My friends suck.

I never collect variants, but I've been tempted, especially considering I only found out this existed after purchasing each album separately.

Seems like an awful lot of variants for a band whose last album was basically a renunciation of conspicuous consumption. Black, red, green, white, for an album half full of material collectors have already likely purchased (via those 3 7" singles).

I should look into insuring my records, but that might open a whole can of worms with my insurance company regarding what is and isn't covered by my renters policy. I guess it is better to know beforehand and fix it before finding out you're fucked after the fact.

Went to this concert last night, and it was absolutely fantastic. The covers really shine and come to life with the live band, and of course there were some older I&W songs with new arrangements (an up-tempo "Southern Anthem" was probably the biggest surprise). Both Sam and Ben were clearly enjoying themselves, the venue, and the audience. Got to meet them backstage after the show and chatted about music and art with Sam. I'm working on a book about his first album and I've been in contact with his management for a few months now. Seems like a genuinely nice guy, down to earth, funny, and friendly.

I was kind of disappointed in that fact that this album came with absolutely nothing. No liner notes, no download code. I'm half surprised they even included an inner jacket

Yeah, its pretty lean, but after that 19-track TWEEDY double album from last year, I'm ready for a short, focused effort from Jeff & the gang.
