  1. It definitely fits in the whole thriller/home invasion movie discussion. I'll have to watch the original. And man, Speed is an awesome movie. Have seen it so many times, mainly in pieces, whenever it played on TV (which is pretty often)
  2. I've never seen the original. I remember reading that is exactly the same correct? I liked this movie a lot when I first watched it. Have seen it multiple times since. Everyone else that I've told to watch it has hated it. Really good movie. But yeah that scene where they throw her off is so damn ruthless. After everything she went through, they just do it without skipping a beat.
  3. They should've done a nice set like they did with Turn on the Bright Lights. No b sides or demos or nothing? This is underwhelming for it being a "special" 10yr reissue
  4. Correct, you have until the deadline July 31. They just announced this one extra early this time
  5. https://store.ramones.com/products/1976-1979-7-vinyl-singles-boxset-vinyl it's on their website
  6. has anyone seen the Glastonbury Live LP on any of the sites? I believe it was UK only i've been looking but haven't seen any. unless i've missed it. any help or link would be appreciated.
  7. is it ok to request a title on this thread? I'm looking for the Glastonbury Live album that's UK only. Anyone out there willing to grab me a copy?
  8. Can't seem to get the damn video posted on here, sorry for being an idiot. But flightless posted a video of the animated labels on their Facebook. And they look pretty damn rad!
  9. Damn that's awesome. So worth it. I'm trying to catch them this tour in LA , hopefully I can get him to sign my album. His is the only one I'm missing as far as what's credited on the album as being "The Mars Volta" (aside from ikey which sadly will never happen...)
  10. Dude that's awesome! How'd you manage that? Waited around inside the venue or out back? I've been trying to get Omar to sign my Frances for a good while now, taking it to Bosnian rainbows shows, orlg, antemasque, no dice...
  11. yeah originally was 12 and was supposed to end in Dec, but they kept it going with another 12 more. i wouldn't be too surprised if there were a few more after that too.
  12. I personally wouldn't recommend starting with Crystal Fairy. not that it's terrible, but not that great especially as a starting point. i'd start with the following Cryptomnesia, Xenophanes, Old Money, Calibration, Omar and John Frusciante, Un Escorpion Perfumado he's currently in the process of releasing a new album every 2 weeks from this past june, up till this coming up June. 24 albums. so much to choose from but these are good ones form that series so far. Sworn Virgins, Aranas en la Sombra, Cell Phone Bikini Start with that
  13. To say that Omar and or Cedric haven't done anything exciting in 14yrs kinda sounds like you're not a fan of Omar's music. Granted I'm a bit biased as i fucking Love the Mars Volta. They've made some damn awesome stuff. Frances is spectacular (probably better than deloused for me) Amputechture is great. even Noctourniquet was great album. And then there's all of Omar's other music and solo stuff. Sure not everything is great, but god damn he's had some fucking awesome albums. Maybe you only ever really liked At the Drive In, I know some Volta fans that never really liked them. or people who love them and never got into Volta too much. I'm not saying everything Omar does is great, or am expecting this album to be spectacular. But it's gonna be fun. sure it's not as awesome as RoC was, but that was almost 20yrs ago. Cedric can't sing the same anymore, they're older guys. but to me, these 2 songs sound like a natural progression of where they left off. with some time in between. But yes, i will agree that it does sound a bit too polished. but hey, it is what it is. I'm excited to finally hear new music from them, in any form. and actually they're live shows last year were ridiculously awesome. their energy was incredible, the crowd was insane from start to finish (which is exactly what i wanted) and they sounded super tight too. definitely exceeded my expectations.
  14. So annoying that bands these days have la ton of variants. And quickly replace one pressing as soon as another "sells out".
  15. There is no info on the box yet. Fingers crossed it does actually happen
  16. and also, isn't the 2015 version missing the etching on the last side? at least from what i've seen pictures. i've been meaning to buy one myself, just to have in my Volta collection, bootleg or not.
  17. man, so stoked for everything you sent me. seriously, super awesome. that book is great. i just flipped through most of it. really need to sit down and enjoy it thoroughly, but yeah that Like Rats 7" is pretty damn awesome. thanks again man!
  18. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3cl3zuywikwqnzx/20161211_202911.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/0uat2kxeswmiuqh/20161211_203041.jpg?dl=0 am i an idiot? i can't seem to upload photos onto here. don't know what the hell i'm doing wrong. and stupid photobucket is being stupid. can't seem to figure it out. anyway, hope you guys can see the above posted links. i got 2 separate packages. and just now got around to opening it and spinning a few of the records. 12"s Requiem for a Dream, such an awesome score and one of my favorite movies (and no SS, i hadn't bought it yet, but had been wanting it since RSD. so thank you very much!!) a compilation of some pretty cool bands including title fight, circa, tigers jaw, pity sex, pretty cool stuff. a lot of bands i hadn't listened to before Abel- Make it Right... haven't listened to this one yet. Tar - Handsome... also have yet to listen to this, but always down and excited to check out new music Glassjaw - Worship and Tribute. only got to listen to one side so far, and i'm digging it. had never listened to this band, but had heard the name on here a lot. a really really cool photography book about a photographer moving from Birmingham AL, to Bellingham WA (i really like this book. some awesome landscapes and cool shots. i don't normally shoot landscapes myself, but i do enjoy looking through them. plus this book has so much more too. really like it SS) [and not picutred because i just realized i had it on my shelf] Royal Forest - Spillway... pretty chill music. but i like it. has a good sound to it. 7"s touche amore/casket lottery - split... really dig this, had never listened to either band. liking the touche side better though Rise Against - ready to fall.... also awesome Evergreen terrace - dead horses.... have not listened to this yet either Like Rats.... this, this i like. fucking brutal thrash goodness. pretty damn awesome super happy with all the stuff i got. will definitely get around to listening to the rest of the records. thanks so much!! now for the guessing part. i'm gonna say it's @kforkevin777 (your avatar gave you away) also the fact that our location is shown under our names. sorry for not really knowing people on here like many of you do. but fuck, i so appreciate all the stuff you sent me. seriously, thank you!
  19. No one has guessed wrong so far? I feel like I might since I don't really know people on here. Anyway, got my packages in the other day. Will wait about a week or so to open them when I get back in town
  20. sorry for the delay. my name is Oliver, i'm 27. i live in Vegas (where the party never stops!) some of my favorite bands are The Mars Volta (ultimate favorite band, and all of the stuff Omar does) The Strokes, Death From Above 1979, The Killers, Gogol Bordello, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. i like music that i can go wild to at a live show, or at least have some energy. the funnest and most memorable shows are always the ones where shit gets wild. not down for music that's too slow, although there are a few exceptions like Portishead, Chelsea Wolfe and the like. i've started to like some electronic music, not sure exactly what type, i think maybe synthwave? but stuff like Survive, FM-84, Teeel, soundtrack music that sounds like 80s synth stuff. i just don't know of too much though. same with Black Metal. i like stuff i've heard like Deafheaven, Ghost Funeral, Venom, but again, not familiar with too many bands. i like the higher pitched screaming as opposed to bands that are all deep growls (i find that so annoying). i can get down on some punk and thrash or hardcore too. i wish i knew more of like rockabilly, surf, type of stuff. i like it when i hear it at bars and stuff, but never actually sit down and listen to it. guess that's my fault. anyway, sorry if this is a damn mess. and outside of music, i really like photography. everything i shoot is always on film, never really touch my digital camera. and i've gotten into instant film the past few years too. there's something still super awesome about holding a photo in your hand, watching it develop, and knowing that it's the only print like that. can't duplicate it or anything. movies: the matrix, toy story, jurassic park, a clockwork orange, quentin tarantino, wes anderson, michel gondry,
  21. The Growlers last night! man what a super fun show! the crowd was so wild and fun and nonstop moving and dancing. and they're great live. first time seeing them. definitely a band to catch live
