I recently purchased Rancid's first 4 albums on colored vinyl.  Although they sound fine when playing there is a TON of surface noise between tracks and this is on all the pressings.

Now I have a few NOFX records on black vinyl and they sound amazing and I have the Bad Religion box set which are all on some version of red and most of them sound good so I was a little upset at the quality of these Rancid albums.

    Anyone else running into this?

Don't get me wrong, I love Riff, I like the album alright, and I bought it because I want to own it, but let's be real, this is a novelty record. If the going rate for this thing inexplicably goes into the triple digits, Rap Game Jonathan Taylor Thomas is going on eBay. If that bums you out, I'm surprised, because we're posting in one of the most consumeristic communities I've ever encountered on the internet. Music here might as well not exist if there aren't at least two colors you can buy it on.

"The vinyl community" is not a thing. Liking a specific format is not enough to be my friend, I've met too many mouthbreathing collector types to feel a close connection to people who share my interests. You can argue that VC is shit, but it's not because I'm going to make $75 twelve months from now. It's because "the vinyl revival" has managed to turn from an ostensible desire to rekindle the connection between artist and listener (the revival of physical media, lyric sheets, intentional listening) into Beanie Babies, in a manner of a few short years. This is not all of VC, nor is it unique to VC, but since it's here, and since I don't have a deep emotional connection to any of this flippable shit, forgive me for occasionally dabbling in making a little walking-around money at the expense of some weak-willed nerds.

I liked their last album so much. I haven't gotten it in vinyl, bu i know i'll eventually. As for Sonic Highway, no way i'll be ordering from their site, shipping is damn expensive, especially to my country :-/
But i'll be getting it from somewhere else, there's only 2 covers i didn't like, so hopefully i don't get one of them

For any NJ, NY, Philly people, they're doing a record release show at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ.  There are still tickets for this, but you need to go in person to buy them.  http://vvinyl.com/s/august/

I've always wanted to see Cadillac ranch, I know it's not much and it's only a 10-20 minute stop, but it's on the way home from Vegas. It'll be a nice place to stretch out legs haha
Never heard of white sands. I'll check it out!

So, my girlfriend and I have some vacation time to take before the end of the year and instead of flying somewhere and spending a ton of money on plane tickets, we're going to take a road trip somewhere. Now, we aren't exactly sure what we're going to do, but we have some idea. What i'm wanting in this thread are some ideas that you guys may have, places to go, see, stay or eat (and record stores!!!!)

The dates that we are going to be taking the road trip are Saturday November 15th to Sunday November 23rd. The only thing we have planned that is set in stone is a Primus show in Austin on the 15th to set off the trip. Originally we were going to head to California and visit a bunch of friends but we're worried that the drive will take up most of the time (26 hrs each way) and that we wouldn't get to spend adequate time with them. So, we're just going to have a somewhat loosely planned multi-stop trip and just wing it from there.

Here is a list of our first idea of planning, if you see anything that might be on the way, or a totally different suggestion please recommend it. We aren't stuck on solely traveling west anywhere in the US is fair game.

    Plan #1
    November 15th - Austin, TX
    November 16th - Roswell, NM
November 17th - Walter White's House/Drive to the Grand Canyon (or most of the way there)
November 18th - Grand Canyon/Start the Drive to Las Vegas
    November 19th - Vegas
November 20th - Start the drive home
November 21st - Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo Texas
    November 22nd - Home

As you can see, that plan gets us home with an extra day to spare, which probably isn't a bad idea just in case something happens that slows us down. Also, Las Vegas isn't 100% necessary since we were just there in May, and will be back this coming May, so that could potentially free up some days.

Anyway, give me ideas, do any of you live along that route? Do any of you that live in another direction have something cool that might be near you? Willing to put us up for a night?

    Lets do this!

I called today and the gentleman I spoke with spoke broken English and wanted to refund me for the first two zep LPs thinking they were lost in transit. I kept trying to tell him I have them sitting in front of me but I want the last copy in my order...after about ten minutes of waiting on hold he apparently said it was "released to be processed". Talk about a confusing phone call but fingers crossed I get my Zep I deluxe and it arrives mint...hahaha

Depends on the condition of each record and jacket. I see you have some good music there but also some less sought after records.

I'd say on average between $0.50 to $5 per record.

Let Them Eat Vinyl is a real puzzler. Most of their releases are split between blatant classic/mainstream rock bootlegs like this (and Bruce Springsteen Live at the Main Point) and what appear to be above-board reissues of notable early punk and new wave records. Also, they put out 2 Bring Me the Horizon records in the UK?!? and there are purchase links on their catalog page, where you can see the crazy weird variety that I'm talking about. Their website also has an address, phone number, all the things a typical bootleg operation doesn't have (other than vinyl-digital, but they're another curious exception, and there's a layer of plausible deniability as they're just a store who happens have inside info on these mysterious bootlegs that come from who knows where). Seems pretty ballsy to announce that you're planning on putting out grey-market Dylan, Cash and Zappa records rather than simply letting them show up in shady record stores and online shops one day.
