Came in today and I checked it out. Very nice. Very quiet pressing, good sonics. An easy thumbs up.

Allen, I don't care what everyone else on the site says, you're good in my book.

Not sure about all the digital stuff but all the records are very different in many obvious and various ways but yes there can be some very bewildering reasons that dictate whether things are different or not on discogs
It's 8164 now, Fathers day was good to me.
And there's 14 versions of this in my collection all different, I do wish they'd stop pressing the bloody thing in different bootleg colours though so I could stop buying them, I'm sure it's some sort of addiction now.

Probably true although I'd expect less issues with Optimal.

As a point of interest my local independent said he had more trouble getting standard black than white, he asked for 20 of each, he got 20 white but only 4 black and as of Saturday all 24 were gone

I've seen a lot worse than mine on the internet, really compared to some I see I'm just an amateur.
I have a room in the house which has my main hifi and most of my records in it, the overspill records are boxed up in a spare room but yes it is all packed in with military precision just so that it all fits. This system isn't my main system by the way it's some kit I have on test so it's temporarily sitting in front of some of my record racks.
Just to show off a little, another picture of some of my records is the entrance into the vault vinyl collection contest in the galleries on the Third Man Vault pages.

I got mine Friday and there are some pictures of the labels etc. on Discogs now.

It's a completely different pressing from my UK or originals and definitely a different master, judging by the amount of Island logo's they took charge of this one, apart from the obvious like vinyl colour and Island branding it looks and feels a much nicer made package with the plus of having a printed inner with band photo's on it.

Sound wise I've only given it one listen so far but first impressions are that it's a nicer master than the original UK or US ones and getting close to as good as the 7" box set version, my only complaint would be that on side A there is very little run out so if you have any IGD problems I expect this LP will show it up.

Just got back into vinyl a couple of months ago after 30 year absence. Finally got fed up with the compressed sound of digital, so on the advice of my son, I rediscovered the joy of LPs once again. Could not be happier. System is: Uturn Orbit with acrylic platter, Tannoy System 800 speakers with a Yamaha RX-V377 amp.

It's nice to see a company that doesn't make up pretentious crap about it and admit to what their basis is. Belden make some very nice cable which is why their part numbers are standards in a lot of industries, so if you ever fancy trying to make your own just have a look through the Belden catalogue. We use quite a lot of small signal Belden cable for different things at work so off cuts occasionally come home with me to make cables, problem is we don't use a lot of the sort of cable that looks the part for hifi use but looks aren't everything.

Also I picked up four 100M reels of custom made 4 core Belden cable years ago so I never need to by another speaker cable ever, it's only downside is that the outer sheaf is lime green so it's not exactly conspicuous but for £5 a 100M reel I have no problem going colour blind.

Not sure if you're in Europe or the US but if in Europe keep your eye out for a Thorens TD160/166, or if in the US an AR EB101 or Legend, all can still be had in their domestic markets for a reasonable price with some digging and would be a nice home for that arm.
Don't confuse the European AR EB101 with the US one as they are totally different tables with the EU one having a much lower quality plinth.

The arm is a SME3009 improved with fixed headshell, worth a lot more than the table and can cope with a lot better cartridge than is in it now.
If it were mine I'd sell the table, keep the arm and buy something a bit more deserving to mount that arm on.
You could of course sell it all and buy something modern and boring but you wouldn't then be the proud owner of a true hifi legend and icon.
The manuals for the arm, table and cartridge are all available on the vinyl engine so it you haven't got a free account with them sign up and you can download everything you'll need.

That arm isn't standard in that table and was fitted to many tables from the late 60's on or was bought as a standalone arm but it's not an unusual fitment on that table.
If you do fit it to something else the armboard will be valuable to someone to use on one of the higher up the foodchain Technics tables I'm sure.

You can get every spare part and upgrade part you will ever need for that arm as SME are still going and there are a lot of after market parts available for it, if it were mine and it hadn't already been done I'd rewire it with some Cardas cable as the cable in it must be getting on for 40 years old now and do the RCA connections mod, fit it to either a Garrard 301/401, or something with a 3 point suspended chassis like a Thorens, AR, Pink Triangle, Linn or perhaps an early Sota Saphire or Luxman and fit a decent MC cart in it.

The ADC cartridge whilst quite good is nowhere near the standard that arm is capable of dealing with although it's upside is that ADC used pretty much the same body for all their carts so you can fit a much better stylus to it.

Don't get me wrong as there's nothing basically wrong with that table it just won't get the best out of that arm, now you've got it unless you paid a lot of money I'd hang onto it whatever you do with it.

I've not heard any ADAM speakers no and it's not a brand I'm really aware of hence not knowing they weren't ribbons but I've heard enough other Active speakers both good and bad so as my learned colleague says read a little further.
As someone who builds amplifiers in my spare time my preference to external amplification is from an electronic engineering standpoint, that and the amplifiers I generally build contain valves which tend to not like being in closed boxes with magnets

    Edit

And now I've got to go and find some ADAM's to listen to, I make a point of listening to as much sound equipment as I possibly can in one lifetime and I can't hold an opinion on something until I've heard it.

I had a quick look at the website and couldn't find yours so that explains it, they do look to display the sort of attention to detail you'd expect from Teutonic engineering. The tweeter design looks very interesting

My experience of active speakers is mostly from the powered BBC Rogers speakers, the  and the Boothroyd Stuart and Cambridge domestic units and so far none of the modern active's I've heard quite measure up to the Rogers and I notice now there seems to be a trend in studios to use domestic passive speakers with some studios employing speakers from people like Bowers & Wilkins and Focal, funny how ideas change, we'll be back to NS-10's and LS3/5a's soon
