Blaine reacted to mcpherson123 in (PO Soon) FUZZ - II 2XLP 10/23/15
You absolutely can NOT consider this band without hearing their non-album pre-release singles. You can not.
(This is the song that got me)

Haha, agree with the sentiment.
Good music is good music, and if it's mastered properly that's a huge bonus. I'm certainly not walking into a record shop and asking for the best audiophile releases, regardless of artist.
Genres like punk, lo-fi, etc. don't need hi-fidelity masterings. They are DIY genres that gain a lot of their charm from the fact they don't sound perfect.
I understand the desire for hi-fi in regards to jazz and classical, but these are also the same collectors that go ga-ga over bootleg-demos from The Beatles just because it's the Fab 4.

I was talking to some friends about this recently....who gives a fuck if an Asia album sounds incredible? At the end of the day you're still listening to fucking Asia

I don't think Steve Hoffman posters even enjoy music. It's about the process for them.

Black is sold out. 18 copies of the yellow left. I think we will be posting the second (and probably last) press tomorrow most likely. We've also decided we are doing this entire next press for charity.

Blaine reacted to throwgncpr in How to Get Music On Vinyl Releases
soundstagedirect carries a lot of MOV releases. Also, since you're Columbus based, you should check out:
Used Kids Records (High St. - campus)
Lost Weekend Records (High St. - Clintonville)
Records Per Minute (High St. - between campus and Clintonville)
^ all three usually carry some MOV releases in store.

My purple copy has it but you have to hop the needle over a locked groove in order to get it to play. By the way, while we're talking about "Slow Death" and to shift the conversation a little more towards the content of the album and not so much about the LP's variable physical attributes weight/color/height/presidential-electiblity/etc., I want to say that I think "Slow Death" might be my favorite track on the album. The album is great but this song is so different and so sexy and fuckin' like 70's Soul style and weird that I can't believe its Uncle Acid (except for when you hear the vocal). I really love that they flirted with that style for this track. Its just killer and I love that its a long one.

Blaine reacted to sunkilmoonfan in PO: Yo La Tengo/I Can Hear the Heart...RE
Ever, ever so slightly cheaper at Amazon.
But... that's not why I'm posting. A couple years back, my best friend got engaged. He happened to have this record on while doing so (a record I had given him!), and I got a bit of an idea. I e-mailed Yo La Tengo, with no real expectation of hearing back, and whaddaya know? They wrote me back, and helped me arrange getting a copy signed and drawn on (people heading into the church!) for their wedding present. Such nice people.

I'm just intrigued that vinyl collecting culture is by and large majorly hung up on getting a "color" LP and somehow black is this lackluster, unexpected disappointment. I'm disappointed when a pressing is made that doesn't have a black option. I guess that's kind of the same thing though.

Also it's perhaps a little off topic, but I need someone to be as excited about it as I am - anyone check out the Alexisonfire video from Reading last month yet? I totally forgot it was a thing until right now.
