  1. I pay $900 a month now just to rent a damn studio apartment. I'm pretty sure I could be paying a full monthly mortgage payment, no? Because that's what I'm aiming for; a house where my monthly payment (not including utilities) is $900 at most. I know there are many factors, but that'd set me at roughly a $100,000 house, correct? Cause that's sort of what I've been eyeballing and believe I'd be comfortable with. I still need to save up a lot as I'm really hoping to at least make a 10% downpayment, but I suppose FHA loans could be an option. Thing is, I'm not that desperate to get a house RIGHT NOW, so I'm thinking I'd be better off waiting and getting more saved up.
  2. Blood mountain was good, it just wasn't Leviathan. And Crack The Sky wasn't bad, although I liked it a lot more initially than I do now. I can't even really comment much on The Hunter because I don't believe I even made it through the full album.
  3. Wasn't crazy for their last album, wasn't crazy for the latest track, and I'm not crazy for this pre-order price. Hey, at least it's an easy decision for me! I'll buy other stuff for now.
  4. Is this a Ninja Tune band? They've got some neat artists. I'm currently listening to a Beat Delete copy of Amon Tobin's Permutation. Beat Delete's a cool concept. I mean it's essentially just Kickstarter... but Kickstarter is pretty cool too, IMO. I wish more labels would do something similar. Rather than scouring eBay for overpriced copies, you just tell the label (in the form of cold cash) that you want an album. If enough other people do the same, you'll get it! And if not, you're back where you started anyway, and the labels don't loose money repressing an album with little demand. ANYWAY, I'll check out this band later.
  5. Sweet album / poster ^^^. That's actually the only National album I still need to pick up.
  6. What kind of audio difference are these types of things supposed to make? Or is it just to prevent records from slipping?
  7. Russian Circles - Geneva I had been interested in vinyl for years, but kept pushing off buying records because I didn't know anything about turntables / stereo equipment in general. Finally, I decided that I'd just start buying records that caught my eye, and eventually I'd have a bunch and NEED to research some stereo equipment and put together a set up. And that's pretty much exactly what happy. I just happened to be on a Russian Circles kick when I made this decision.
  8. Which album(s) are you listening to? I really dig Om. But I'm a drummer, and I tend to listen in more to the bass and drums anyway.
  9. Music nerd =/ music snob. I scored 24/100 for being a music snob. And I was being generous in checking off some questions... But I'd still say I'm a music nerd. I'm just a quiet nerd that doesn't really give a shit about what other people listen to. Edit: I also didn't check off the "tube-amp speakers," because... what.
  10. Yea. I checked eBay, and I bought it September last year. It was even an auction, and based on my emails it looks like I put in the bid long before it even ended. So nobody else was even fighting for it. People have probably just been bumping up the price the last few months because the RSD hype.
  11. Cool that HydraHead seems to be pressing/selling more copies of this soon. But, I didn't even know it was that hard to find... I spontaneously decided to search eBay just a few months ago and bought the it for $20.
  12. I might finally grab the newest APMD... maybe scoop up a Trap Them album. Although the Deathwish mug looks tempting as well. I love mugs. Edit: APMD is also on Southern Lord, I believe. So I'll have to see if they're doing a sale, because I think they have more stuff that I want. But... they don't have a mug.
  13. I just skimmed the UK RSD list. Can I teleport there tomorrow instead? Carcass, London Grammar, SikTh, Ulver...
  14. Maybe 100? Southern Lord just posted (on their Facebook) about 7 hours ago that black was in stock.
  15. I held off on this despite really digging this album because I'm trying to save $$$. But it's available again, now on black vinyl. Stop teasing me, Southern Lord. Yes, I want this. Now go away so I can forget that I want it.
  16. Yea, the shipping costs as much as the album itself... But here's some free music from Heuy instead. I can't even find somewhere to pay for it if I wanted to (which I would, but I'm not sure if it's even available in physical form yet?). http://hueyband.bandcamp.com/album/ace
  17. +1 I never see these guys mentioned online. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but that album destroys and doesn't get enough attention. It was released back in 2010 on wax, yet it's still available today. Meaning less that 500 people listen to Suma (on vinyl). Which is kinda sad... but also good news for anyone here that wants it/doesn't have it. http://sumanoise.bandcamp.com/album/let-the-churches-burn-2lp
  18. If you wanna go used / "vintage" (depending on what year you find), the Technics SL1200MK2 is a great table. Production stopped around 2010, but they're still really easy to find and usually sell for well within your budget. If I remember correctly, I bought mine for $300, but you might be able to do far better. If you're patient, you might be able to score one locally for much cheaper. These things were built like tanks, and they hold up very well.
  19. my bad, i could've sworn they were all playing when i posted that? i dunno, i'm sick and lightheaded, so maybe not.
  20. Shop opens at 8, so I'll probably try to get there around 8:30-9:00. I really only want the Katatonia, and there are two or three others I'd consider. But my record shop is only going to have one of each in stock (of the albums I want). I'd rather not deal with a mad rush. If they're there when I get there, cool. If not, I'll just buy some non-RSD albums I wanted anyway. The only albums I'm actually drooling over this RSD aren't released in the USA.
  21. I don't think it's available yet (on vinyl) but you can stream the new album on their bandcamp. http://agalloch.bandcamp.com/album/the-serpent-the-sphere
  22. I completely forgot about this band for some reason. I listened to The Mantle years ago and absolutely loved it, so I don't know why I never checked out their other stuff. I'm currently listening to their debut and am really dig it as well.
  23. I'm having beer too, if you need to know. I work 3rd shift, and my weekend just started!
  24. More like a $10 pizza. Except, the pizza guy knows you really want the pizza. And he knows other people really want to pizza. So he decides troll everyone and sell his pizza for $20 and only on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of every month (excluding June and September). This is a horribly comparison, but everyone if talking about pizza. And I actually just made one (waiting for the oven to heat up). Really, I just made this post to show off my pizza and make everyone jealous. This compensates for me being jealous because I don't want to pay for this album.
