  1. I will once I see it come up! Or is there a way to vote on all games or something? I thought it was just an A or B choice between two sets of 4 games.
  2. Lancaster and Reading? Damn! I'm in Northampton, work near-ish Reading. Anyway, with a $1500 budget, my set up would fit the bill. Technics SL1200's are pretty common and you can find them for around $300 online. Dynaco A-25 speakers are also pretty common, and you'd spend maybe $100-200. Both solid pieces of equipment and pretty popular in terms of "old" gear within this price range. My amp isn't a great example, but there are plenty of old integrated amplifiers for around the $200-400 mark. Add it all up along with any necessary cables/stands, and you'd have a solid set up for under $1,000 IMO. Which leaves you $500 for more records. Or if you want to splurge more and get the Sota, go for it, especially if you plan on doing more upgrades down the road. But otherwise, it's generally better to sort of "balance" your set up, as in getting components of relatively equal quality.
  3. Dammit; I didn't want to know about, for my wallet's sake. I have too many games as-is. But I just snagged Shadowrun Returns for under $4, so I guess that's not so bad. Hopefully The Banner Saga will get a good sale too.
  4. How to buy toys for your cat: 1) Buy toys for yourself 2) Give cat the packaging/trash I tell my parents not to buy any cat stuff for me, but they've gotten a bed, mice toys, and a scratching post. My cat doesn't touch any of them. She's sleeping in her cardboard box right now; her favorite toys are hair ties and shoelaces (I've tied a hair tie to a shoelace for an epic cat toy).
  5. I want to like this because The Money Store is awesome and Bjork is awesome. But I just can't get into it right now.
  6. Since everyone else is beating around the bush, I'll just say it: Yes. I like to see my albums go up in price because it gives me a sense of justification for spending so much money. Which is turn convinces me that it's OK to buy more. I've never sold a single album, so that's a kind of silly justification I suppose. But hey, whatever works... I don't know the value of any of my albums off the top of my head, but when I pick up a new album and add it to my discogs account, I often like checking the prices of my albums.
  7. Heh, I've never had problems with them before. It's FedEx that usually farts around and can't seem to tie their own shoes. But yea... you're right. Though I can still give props to USPS, it's just my local mailman that blows.
  8. MOTHER FUCKERS. Mailman delivered my Southern Lord package... to the wrong apt. Fucking dunce. I even went out and bought some beer for the very purpose of listening to this album this afternoon. Bastards.
  9. Finished Golden Sun, just started Pokemon White 2. The starter fire pokemon looks absolutely horrendous, which is a huge downer; I usually like fire pokemon. I looked up the evolved forms and they're not much better. I went with the snake-like grass one. On another note, I actually hate stories in video games. For the most part. Really, I just hate cut scenes. Probably for the same reasons I don't like watching TV/movies. But I like text-based dialogue stories. So I dig a lot of PC ARPGs and even some oldschool JRPGs. Silly voice acting and cut scenes just takes me out of the game TBH. And that's probably the main reason why I just cannot get into Skyrm, no matter how hard I try. Because the gameplay is fun, but the NPC interactions just kill it for me.
  10. USPS FTW. Should have my copy of Hex later this morning. Only two days shipping, too... and that's going from the west coast to the east coast.
  11. Does everything Kurt Ballou touches turn to gold? I'll just grab this from my record shop when it comes out, as I already missed out on the snazzy variants it seems (I don't want gray).
  12. Sorry to completely butt into any current conversations, but lots of people here have snazzy GIFs in their sig. How do I make one? I've gotten as far as getting a 13 second .wmv file of the clip I want to use, but I need to crop it and convert it to a GIF. Is there a good program to do this with? When I had my macbook, I could've done it (not necessarily easily) with I believe quicktime (converting the movie into still images) and fireworks (combining all the images into a GIF). But I'm on a PC now and my legit copy of Fireworks is for Mac. But.... I notices people talking about marijuana allergies. Have you tried vaporizing / eating bud? Just curious. I hate smoking anything as it makes me cough up and lung and feel like shit, but vapor gives me no trouble whatsoever. I just attribute it to me having pussy lungs.
  13. Ah man, Paul's Boutique is eligible but not Check Your Head nor Hello Nasty, which were the two really I wanted (already have Boutique on CD, but might grab it on vinyl as well). Oh well, I'll keep browsing. Thanks for the heads-up. Edit: I'm actually finding a good number of titles of interest (to me) that are eligible. So I'm probably going to grab three. Portishead - S/T (only $12 too) Radiohead - OK Computer / Kid A Tom Waits - Small Change (and other albums, I believe) London Grammar - If You wait The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Black Sabbath - Paranoid Sleep - Dopesmoker Deafheaven - Sunbather Pixies - Surfa Rosa Death Grips - Money Store The National - High Violet (also their newest album)
  14. I put them on the floor leaning up against the cabinet, usually with the inner sleeve over top of the album cover... Might just make a small shelf to put on the wall behind the record table, because I've seen some others do that and it looks pretty neat IMO. But then again I'm lazy, so I probably won't do this.
  15. White Hex already shipped; no fair (I bought black Hex). Southern Lord is racist.
  16. Anyone heard any news for this? Also (unrelated to the first post): YES YES YES Now I just hope it's not a picture disc. I have the Blood Inside picture disc, and it's not bad, but I'd prefer plain vinyl.
  17. Still haven't listened to it all the way through, but I liked the first half that I have heard. Might pick it up tomorrow if the local shop has it in stock. That said, the reason I'm bumping this: Is there a good website for stoner / doom / drone / metal in general that has reviews or just news for upcoming releases and whatnot?
  18. Oooh I forgot about frozen coffee. Probably cause I haven't done it for a while. Sometimes I would make extra coffee, pour some into ice trays to freeze and some just in the fridge. Then when I get back from the gym, I'd use milk, the chocolate protein powder, the cold coffee, and the coffee ice cubes, and blend it all up.
  19. I like plain coffee. Grind up some beans, toss 'em in a press with hot water, and wait a few minutes... easy, cheap, and delicious. I've tried just about all the beans offered at my grocery store, but I'd say these are my favorite. Actually, what's REALLY good is to throw a little chunk of mozzarella in the coffee. Seriously. A coworker told me about it a few years ago... doesn't change the taste of the coffee at all. But once you've drained your cup, you have the most amazing tasting piece of cheese ever. Coffee soaked and soft... I wanted to vomit when he first told me, but seriously it's amazing.
  20. I believe that's how they normally ship albums anyway. At least my Yob reissue came that way. Even the SL releases I bought in store were like that.
  21. Well, it's sold out anyway. It is essentially a kickstarter, especially since the band seems to not want to repress things despite high demand. I don't dislike the idea of bands taking on a kickstarter-esq plan though, especially if it's an independent band and the album is finished (just needs to get pressed) Actually, I really dig what Ninjatune did with "beat-delete." Pretty much just a kickstarter to repress old albums. Once enough people make a "preorder" it gets repressed. I wish more labels did that. It would save them the hassle of judging which albums have a high enough demand for a repress and prevent them from making too many/not enough.
