  1. Oh, well there you go. When you get a chance do some research and pick up a decent turntable and you'll be alright. Crosley's really are awful, as you're learning with this pitch change problem. I think you may just have some of the ole thin skin going on too, this thread has been ridiculously tame, not only that, but you got the help you were looking for. There is an expectation that if you start getting into a hobby that you'd do research though...why wouldn't there be? It's like if you were getting into cars, and you went out and just spent $70,000 on a Geo Metro (I know they don't actually cost this much, it's an example.) when you could have spent that same $70,000 and gotten a much nicer car, which you'd have known if you'd just done a few simple google searches. I've never understood when people get into expensive hobbies without actually doing any sort of research or legwork, guess I never will.
  2. Seriously? I don't think there has been any hostility in this thread at all, and most posts over the course of the thread have been helpful. Don't be a baby, ya dingus.
  3. You're such a good dude, man! People should always buy kjkenney's stuff because his prices are the best around. Dude hooked me up the other day and I'm anxiously awaiting my Promise Ring record
  4. What I would expect is for you (or anyone for that matter) to do some research on what turntables to buy before jumping into a hobby like record collecting. You can go to a record shop/thrift store and grab a $50-100 turntable that is going to run circles around a Crosley, grab a $20-50 receiver and $20-50 speakers from a thrift store and have a decent beginner set up, or you can spend $130 on a Crosley that is going to just scratch your records to hell and do stuff like this and sound like garbage. That's why I hesitated to ask though. I figured this might be the case. I know what I said above may come off as harsh, I don't mean it that way. I'm just saying, next time you get into a new hobby do some research before you start blowing cash and you'll save yourself some money/hassle. The problem is almost definitely your TT.
  5. I'm going to have to give Orchid another try. I'm not super into them, but I hear people talking about them alllllll the time.
  6. Might be It's the way it's worded in the title. People are just treating it like a "white whale"/"good deal I got once" thread.
  7. People may not agree with me, but I'm a cold hearted motherfucker when it comes to that kind of shit... I'd cut them both loose. Being drunk is no excuse for your friend doing that. Even when I've been falling down drunk, when I've hooked up with people I knew were in relationships/whatever (I was young and stupid at one point too) I made the conscious decision that "fuck it, who cares, I'm doing this." Granted, I didn't so it to my friends, just people I knew through other people or people I didn't know at all. But yeah, tl;dr: Your buddy knew what he was doing and he was an asshole. Her too. I don't know why people think being drunk is an excuse for their poor behavior. Sorry, man. I like you as much as I like anyone on this board, so I wanted to give it to you straight. It's a bummer situation to be in Neither of them is worth it as far as I'm concerned. You're too good for them.
  8. As suspected, my $2 thrift store copy has no pitch change whatsoever. Needs a good cleaning though. I hate to be the one to finally ask this...what sort of turntable are you playing this on?
  9. Yeah...I don't think people are quite getting what this thread is for. (Also, your signature is fucking killing me, dude. Good show.) Maybe some people can post some hard to find stuff they're looking for in here, and if people have seen it at a good price locally they can let them know? I'll take a peak around tomorrow and see if I can find anything neat that someone might be after. But I don't know what all anyone is looking for.
  10. I'd trade a seafoam for a blue tour TDAGARIM if someone wants to do that, no big deal though if nobody wants to.
  11. Seems true enough. Good call Shelbs. I'll still get mine out to listen today anyway.
  12. Also a good point. Let me grab my copy of Animals and give it a spin. I'll let you know how it sounds.
  13. This^ Always spin your records at the store if buying used, if they don't have a table, take a really good look at it.
  14. ($23 bucks seems a little steep to me for a copy of Animals too, just show you know.)
  15. Yup. You'll have to sell it back and they'll give you very little if it's as warped as it seems. Live and learn. Always check your records before you leave the shop.
