mike replied to xlovecolouredx's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
wow, i can't believe how crazy this record has gotten even for the black vinyl. i bought it when it first came out. i wasn't (and am still not) a huge converge guy, but i thought the cover art ruled so i picked it up. its on black. the store had like 10 copies at the time. shit, if i had only known then. haha.... -

DK - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
mike replied to viperviper's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
wow, i actually don't think i've seen one with a blue back cover. throughout the 80's pressing, cherry red changed the color of the back covers every so often. i have a red and have seen yellow and green. that's pretty cool. -

take a pic of the back cover and i'll be able to tell you exactly which press it is. its definitely a UK press. Cherry Red was actually the first label to release it, before IRS did in the US. but since they didn't start the "no more censorship defense fund" until way later (after the Frankenchrist fiasco), unless your dad just stuffed those in later on, its probably a late 80's press. -

these ones are bitter - little recap
mike replied to mystic84's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
you're saying that like it was only pressed for the intent of turning it into this expensive collectors item. you might be disappointed that it hasn't turned into some instant rarity that can be hawked for profit, but that doesn't mean there isn't a demand from people who want it simply to hear the new Ben Weasel record. those first 1000 were pretty much all called for before we even had them in hand, and that's why we pressed those extra 500 (and i honestly don't think those will be around for that long). but if pressing those extra LPs is ruining its appeal from a collector standpoint, then good! people shouldn't have to pay a retarded amount for a record that just came out. (oh, and had that dude included the word "screeching" in either of those listing titles, it might have drawn a little more attention.) -

BEN WEASEL These Ones Are Bitter LP clear lt blue

they were supposed to ship today, and i got a UPS notice today, but there wasn't any tracking info yet. so... they should be there in the next couple days (i hope). -
yeah, the do "ready steady go." the orange was a press that Killer Records out of Finland did. it was a licensing thing mutant pop did with them. the vinyl is cool. very european looking, if that makes any sense. they also did a pressing of Boris "drugs and masturbation." eh. they did have billy from D4, but its nothing special.

i was doing some record organizing, so i thought i'd snap a pic while everything was out and disheveled... Screeching Weasel -
i have a few records like this. you just put the needle down starting in the middle of the record and it plays out towards the edge. but you have to keep an eye out, because if it doesn't have a locked groove your needle with literally fall off the record at the end. but its not that new of a thing. the first time i ever saw one was the LTJ 7", and that was '96, but i'm sure they'd been doing for a long time before that.

yeah, he purposefully did that to make it look like a bootleg and not an official release. here's the page for it on their discography... http://verysmall.punkhosting.com/discography/vsr.72.php
