  1. Legendary album, and I think that boxset would be really cool to have. But at that price, there's no way I could personally justify it. I'd love to hear those demos, though.
  2. So this clown is going to block other members' posts, but continue to frequent threads for the sole purpose of trolling and talking shit? What a fucking putz. If you're not able to handle the responses to your idiocy, maybe you shouldn't be an idiot to begin with. [edit] I'm not sure what your problem is. But after a considerable amount of time, I've determined that you're easily one of the worst users here at VC, and a complete asshole in general. I typically ignore your negative bullshit, but I guess there's a limit. Kind of wish you'd close your internet browser and watch more WWE specials, any and every time you felt compelled to "contribute" to the forums.
  3. 5th-grade-me is compelled to say "The harder you bang it the looser it gets".
  4. Easy there, you could really slice someone with an edge like that.
  5. As far as I know, Message To Bears has always been Jerome Alexander. Very talented multi-instrumentalist who writes and records all of his own material with no outside help. I still spin my copy of Folding Leaves regularly, and the new album is just as good. Incredibly beautiful and soothing. This guy knows exactly what he's doing, and I will gladly be ordering a copy.
  6. OP browsing Tumblr comments, with Deja bowl and coaster no less.
  7. You are definitely in for a treat. The title track blew my socks off on the first listen, and continues to do so every time.
  8. *Go Tell Fire To The Mountain Now. With that out of the way. Is $112 PPD out of the question?
  9. Yes. Finally. I almost forgot about that. I'll definitely be supporting that one.
  10. Didn't mean to downplay your 001/500, because that's a feat in itself. I'm assuming you bought it from a friend or relative of the band?
  11. I asked Dan about this around September of last year. He said that they were aiming for a 2014 release, somewhere in the first quarter, I believe. Nothing concrete, and you know how HANL like to buckle down and release things in a timely manner. I fully believe that it'll happen. Just not for a while.
  12. Man, I love free shipping. Made this an easy decision. Civilian is just ace, so I've got high expectations for this. But that album art...
  13. Yeah, what mkhaytman said. I'm not sure where my code is, physically, but I can assure you I've got one. Somewhere. Unless the code is a one-time deal. In which case I'd like to save it.
  14. That shipping cost will have to eventually come down in the future, Forbes. It's a serious concern that you should pass along to the uppers. Having gone with the bundle, the price breaking down to $21 per LP isn't too terribly bad. And you have to keep in mind that the finer details are going into this release - 180 gram weight, sturdy gatefold, numbering, and so on. Not to mention the cause is a great one. Even though $26.50 PPD is steep for a single LP, there's no way Sly Vinyl is laughing their way to the bank. These are good dudes taking their own time and spending their own money to bring us a limited run of some great music. Not your average Amazon pre-order.
  15. Brand New fans and Tumblr. Quite possibly two of my least favorite things in existence.
  16. GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR / LIFT YOUR SKINNY FISTS LIKE ANTENNAS TO HEAVEN I know I've been striving to save one artist for each unique letter. And I didn't really want to vote for Godspeed again, since they [rightfully] won the F round... but after considering the magnitude of this album, how could I not? Modest Mouse's Lonesome Crowded West is damn fine. My Blood Valentine's Loveless is a classic. And I consider Appleseed Cast's Low Level Owl (I + II) to be nothing short of a masterpiece. But even combined, those three albums don't capture the dynamic found on Skinny Fists. It's haunting but inspiring. Grim but hopeful. Chaotic and structured. Noisy and soothing. I don't expect it to win the L round, but for those of us who are familiar with what this record brings to the table... I'm not really sure there could be a better vote.
  17. Thank you for the updates, good sir. A bit of a bummer that this EP won't be pressed anytime soon, but what can you do? I'm assuming it's for financial reasons, yes? If so... do you still think it'd be within the realm of possible if we got Sly Vinyl involved? I could absolutely see it selling well. And I echo the sentiments about looking forward to their full length. I really hope they manage to get it released this year. Will definitely be supporting that in any way that I can.
  18. These people are the worst. The persistent ones, anyway. 99% of the time, a band has given their setlist a considerable amount of consideration and planning. They're not going to adjust it on the fly, and they're certainly not going to revise it after you've made your request clear after every song. And while I do appreciate some good banter or discussion between a band and the crowd - especially at smaller shows - I don't really dig that one guy who does his best to get everyone's attention by shouting ridiculous things at the band. Usually in an attempt be funny, but it just comes off as obnoxious and try-hard.
  19. Haha, yeah, I see a lot of the whole I just bought a new shirt, guess I've gotta' show it off now and wear it at shows. I don't really get it. The exception to this is being drenched in sweat at the end of a show, and buying a new shirt to immediately swap out for the ride home. I've got a friend who's done this more than once, and I can't say I blame him at all. Also totally forgot about setlists. I treat them pretty seriously. For me, hearing what the band has in store - especially for encores or something - is akin to hearing the ending of a movie you care about, well before it's over. I'm not into it at all. I'll go out of my way to avoid setlists or discuss the band with friends who've caught them earlier in the tour.
  20. All of this applies to me. Lame as it is to admit, I don't recall a time that I've ever been into crowd-surfing, moshing, etc. I don't think less of anyone who does it - so long as they're not hurting anyone else, or interfering with their ability to enjoy the show - but it's just not for me. I'll sort of sway or bounce to the rhythm on most songs, but I'm typically so absorbed into the musicianship that I'm not overly animated. This all sounds great to me, too. I make it a point to keep my contacts in for the duration of the show, and only swap them out for glasses on the drive back home. I probably don't attend as many shows as a lot of you do - and my hearing is fine, I suppose - but the earplugs are more of a precaution than anything else. Few things hit the spot better.
  21. Sounds like a Dave Matthews show to remember.
  22. I take this pretty seriously. There was one show I attended where I wasn't driving - and thus felt that I didn't have a real vote on what was played - so I bit my tongue when we listened to a single band for 3 hours straight, and then saw them live. They put on a good show, but every song was just like "Oh, this again?" [edit] My new golden rule for shows is to keep a case of earplugs in my car at all times.
