  1. I was in a pretty similar boat when Converge finally clicked for me. I'd highly suggest working backwards from their latest. All We Love We Leave Behind (2012) is an excellent choice, as is Axe To Fall (2009). If neither do anything for you, I'd wait a week or so and try again. They're an extremely rewarding band once you grasp their style and direction.
  2. I don't think it has anything to do with profiting. It's more about the fact that the dude has owned the same record on three separate occasions -- the last of which has resulted in a copy that he's not even going to open or play. He's holding onto the album solely to flip it... and it's an album that he's clearly not all that crazy about to begin with. That is what's being frowned upon, more or less. For clarification, I didn't neg his post. Just providing a little insight.
  3. Of course, variety is key. I can certainly respect that. But I can't say I know too many individuals who enjoy both Converge and mallcore. Converge just comes off as too abrasive and sporadic in their books.
  4. Nah, it's just a guessing game. That's half the fun. Ctrl + F, and then try an artist or album you're looking for. You never know what's going to pop up.
  5. There's no denying the weight and influence of Nevermind. I'm not the biggest Nirvana fan by any means, but that's an album that deserves to win the round, in my books. But for the sake of variety - and as moot of a vote as it may be - my current favorite "N" album is probably... BLUE SKY BLACK DEATH / NOIR
  6. I'm so confused. Is this something to be proud of?
  7. Yeah man, haven't you heard? - high-school is pretty rough these days.
  8. At the risk of sounding pretentious, I just wanted to say that I didn't get this band for the longest time - at which point they "clicked" and I enjoyed their discography for a while - but after a year or two I found myself completely over their sound. It may have to do with my shying away of the whole post-hardcore genre as a whole, for the most part. But I, too, don't really get their rabid fanbase. Their two albums are decent fun, but the newer material doesn't do much for me at all. The fact people put up with all their bullshit is just really baffling to me. This probably reads like a post that belongs in the Overrated Band thread, but it is what it is.
  9. Nah, of course not. That wasn't a knock at you by any means. And like I mentioned, I have the utmost gratitude for the amount of jokes and good times everyone's had in this thread. I just hope it doesn't become a thing. I wouldn't put it past someone to [literally] shit on a record and run it through a high quality turntable for Tumblr cool points*. *Bit of an oxymoron.
  10. But that doesn't mean I'd be opposed to seeing some sweet splatter / tri-color / haze / split bowls. Not even going to try to deny that.
  11. While I'll admit that this thread and a lot of its responses have been good fun, I'm going to be a wet blanket and say that the entire premise that it's founded on is rather dumb. Especially now that American Football is thrown into the mix. This is a record that everyone loves so I'm going to destroy it. (And in the case of AF, the "shock factor" just isn't there, since you can find a standard black copy for $12, as opposed to a copy of Deja.) I don't know. Even if I could afford to nonchalantly buy copies of albums that people cherish - for the sole purpose of defiling them and publicly posting the results to get a reaction - I can't say that I would. Makes me think of; 3edgy5me
  12. It's not that I don't "get" Oasis. I just think they blow. Zero embarrassment, too.
  13. That sounds phenomenal. Prior to last year I refused to touch a BLT - no idea what changed in 2013, but it's become one of my favorites without doubt.
  14. Bummer deal. Out of curiosity, did you listen to the entire record (both albums) in its entirety? That can be a little exhausting. I find that I appreciate it more when the dosage is halved.
  15. Dude, yes. I frequently revisit these when I've got some time to kill. Those new ASIWYFA videos are nuts.
  16. I can't speak for everyone, but I know I'd personally love to read some more of Eric's spontaneous reviews.
