VC's definitive list of albums, A- Z (VOTING CLOSED)
Derek™ replied to brandy's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Having listened to it pretty thoroughly, I have little to zero problems with any given song. And considering how many there are, I'd say that's quite the feat. -
Nice. I have to wait until May. I have a friend who just caught him in Australia, and said it was in the top 5 shows he's ever been to. "Total immersion" was how he described it. Really stoked on that.

I could understand not his best, perhaps, but his worst? That's a rough statement. -

Surprisingly, I don't think this has a single vote. -

I was going to throw a real curveball into my trend of votes, and opt for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Like several people have mentioned, it's just a standout record in a genre that I typically have very little interest in. Listening to it from start to finish is extremely rewarding, and I find that I'm able to thoroughly enjoy it each and every time I revisit. This takes a lot for me to admit, as I don't really care for Kanye's discography, and I really don't care for him as a human being. But MBDTF is definitely a diamond in the rough, of sorts. But with that said, let's be real. I confess that I haven't really listened to Smashing Pumpkins up until last year. (Outside of singles through radio exposure, that is.) But I've always known how much weight Siamese Dream and Melon Collie have pulled. I've been exploring their discography quite a bit lately, and it's really tough to deny everything that this album has to offer. -

That sounds like an extreme break -- I'm sorry to hear it. I wear glasses about 50% of the time, so I'd like to think I at least have an inkling of what you're up against. Godspeed in getting a new pair. -

I don't know if you're looking at replacing the frames in the very near future, but have you considered an epoxy? -

Post-VC: Official Post-Rock/Post-Metal Discussion
Derek™ replied to mrewest's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Same deal, more or less. Not a bad listen by any means, but I found myself wondering when the track would end, about halfway through each one. The last four minutes of the final song are pretty awesome, though. All in all they strike as me as a slower, less interesting version of Toundra. I'll have to revisit it to see if that opinion changes. -

Was not aware of that price. +1 for pointing it out. No way I'm passing on that. -
Truth. And he does have just as much positive feedback as he has posts. I think that's a feat that very few of us can claim.

I'm messaging him now. I'll let you know whether it's a flop or not.

Too good. I'm really glad this is still a thing. -

Band's not for me, but I wanted to comment on how sweet that album art is. I think the blue & white variant that Travis mentioned will look quite sleek with it. -
Yeah, I thought about that, but only after I made the thread. It'd be shitty to go back on my word, so obviously Rawb still gets first dibs... but in the future, I think I'll be limiting these spontaneous Hot Topic Hookups to members who are a little more established.

And that explains why people call you an asshole. Not that I've ever been called fat - here at VC or anywhere else - but prior to 2012, I was actually underweight and even a little self conscious about it. Some smarter dieting choices, a bit of determination, and a lot of whey protein have gotten me closer to a healthy weight. It's an ongoing process. Not that you asked -- I just wanted to emphasize how assumptions get you nowhere. But thanks for playing. Since that was a dead end, you should probably look somewhere else to project your dissatisfaction with your own physique and or life. Thanks. [edit] As to not contribute nothing to thread; congrats to Kess on the score. I've actually never set foot in an Amoeba, though I'd really like to. I've heard mixed things about their prices, but threads like these give me hope.

I will contact you guys with the details when I get home tonight. And to clarify, I only purchased one copy of Juturna, as the other was pretty mauled.

Exactly. This is how I feel each and every year. Even in a best case scenario where an item I'm after is readily available, the 50-200% markup is always pretty discouraging.
