On the bright side, I can't wait for you guys to see the video game soundtrack we are currently working on. Incredible, atmospheric music set to a game I've been somewhat obsessed with for years.

I checked this out a few days ago on bc and I have to say that I was thoroughly unimpressed...
 
What's with all of the hype?

He's not this generation's elliott smith because this generation has no elliott smith. I mean alex is literally my favorite music of the past half decade but even I can't compare him to elliott's impact on music. Although I do also use Elliott has a familiarizing point for material like half of Beach Music since it seems Elliott has been a huge influence on Alex's approach occasionally 

yeah, "Lost In A Dream" and "Transference" are amazing. I was similarly underwhelmed by the artwork at first but for some reason it's grown tremendously on me. maybe seeing the animated version helped.
 
i think the second and last tracks are going to be standouts for a lot of people also.
 
its interesting to see them take such a turn on this one, the synths are much brighter and clear - the whole album feels less like a cityscape and more meditative like a literal spiritual temple. a lot less of those delay echo drums and murky bass lines and this new record sounds more hi-fi overall. first impressions are great, but BoaND took quite a few listens to fully sink in for me so I've gotta give it more time.
 
copped the tape and the vinyl - btw dream catalogue confirmed another issue of the tape is coming out with a different color

Got my Hyper Light Drifter cassettes yesterday, and they are killer. Packaging is really cool

totally agree, I would buy that in a heartbeat. id love more retro game cassettes in general. sadly, licensing those can be really tricky.

needless to say this album is amazing and serious contender for AOTY. already scooped the Newbury and VMP versions, but if neither is a gatefold.... uuuughh. might be tempted to go for a third. is this what my life has become??

Have you seen it? I think it's a wonderful miniseries filled with memorable characters, surrealism, beautiful art direction, fantastic music, clever and bizarre writing and a surprisingly poignant and dark finale that re-contextualizes everything you've seen up until that point.

Doesn't really get more hype-worthy than that for a 10-part mini series with 10 minute episodes.
