Avoid the XX remaster of Rage debut.
Avoid the last Jane's Addiction album on vinyl. In each case it sounds like they've tried to cut the same awful loudness wars CD to vinyl and it sounds worse. Not surprisingly Vlado Meller was the mastering engineer on both. Want RATM? Get the original all analogue US cut or second best would be original UK or Music on Vinyl MOVLP043, some Amazon sellers still have it in stock.

It happened with someone’s knowledge but it doesn't appear for sale on either the band or labels web pages but the label must know about it as the download card points you at infectious downloads. I'm sure the truth of it will come out sooner or later

I guess I'm not sure What exactly was done but the difference is noticeable.

I imagine it's DMM, it's right on the lacquer and the sticker notes it's One Little Indian still and is the copy you can buy directly from them.

So how does it sound, well the pressing quality isn't fantastic, mine is noisy between tracks and has a few ticks here and there but none so far that would cause you to be worried about the volume on your speakers, but despite those issues...HOLY MOSES does this one sound good? I put on SIDE B first and it said 33rpm but within a few seconds of the track playing I knew it was 45rpm so I removed the platter and changed the belt and then got taken for a ride...Becoming X was the first tracks I listened to - granted I haven't listened to it in several years and I've never listened to it critically, but it sounded absolutely amazing! I seriously could not believe just how cracking this track sounded, and I recently upgraded my fronts from Paradigm Monitor 11v4 to Acoustic Energy AElite3, the bass response on this record is beyond reproach! Stunning, visceral, do not hesitate to add to your collection if you were on the fence.

It's all good, but it'd be nice to get the splattery one because splatter is what plants crave.

Thanks for the post, I just bought one of the clears and strangely after complaining of $35 postage the cheapest option offered today was $23. Looking forward to hearing if the rest of the album matches up to this first song.

4th one i wasnt a massive fan of. 3rd one is great - but not as good as the first 2 IMO

When I ordered it said stock expected April 10th

I weakened after not being able to find a copy much under £40 and decided to pay just over that to buy a signed copy from the US. Looking forward to that first spin

Looks like Amazon warehouse has a returned copy available. It could be a clear version (or blue?), if anyone wants to take the chance.

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered this one. When I first looked I saw the LP listing only and the running time made my mind up for me that I'd steer clear, but 2LP and 45rpm is a different ballgame. 12, 13, 13 and 10 side times, hope it sounds fantastic. I'll comment back for sure.

Thanks again for your suggestion of contacting people off Discogs. I have just spun my copy bought from a seller in Norway and it sounds outstanding. Three years or more of hunting has been worth it. This is the version to own if this album is one of your desert island discs.

Ah that's the 20th anniversary issue, didn't realise QRP pressed it  Not full analogue and from what I have read on many forums an ok sounding album but not 'the one', shame since it was done by QRP.
 
Thanks to cedwhatev's suggestion I sent a message to all 15 owners of this LP on Discogs. Quite a few responded with thanks but no thanks, a couple emailed back and said it was by far the best sounding version and they would never sell their's and one replied back and offered to sell me his!. Fortunately the seller was in Norway too so I should have it tomorrow.
