To the extent your question is genuine, I follow musicians on social media to get updates on their musical projects.  That is what being a fan of his music has to do with checking his social media.

It is genuine.  I'm a fan of the music he's released in the past and connected to when I was younger. I've never been a fan of him personally which is what I think social media is for. I'm genuinely  fascinated by the lines of fandom and art. I will make a decision to listen or not listen when (if ever) there's a release. I'm sure I'll hear about it when it happens even though I can't imagine listening to any new release knowing what I know now. There won't be any connection made. That's my perspective. Was curious of yours.

I am a big fan of his music. But that doesn't prevent me from being very troubled by his actions. Is that seriously hard to make sense of?

It's not. I was just curious and you provided an answer. I don't know why you would think I couldn't understand that.

Edit: Actually, no. That doesn't make sense. You're a fan of his music. What does that have to do with checking his social media?

Has anyone else been paying attention to DRA's social media activity of late? Bunch of phony meditations about gratitude with plenty of "God bless y'alls" thrown in for good measure. So much for his promise to "soon" provide his side of the misconduct allegations.

Are there really people who can't see how fake this all is? I guess the answer is yes given the amount of fanboys and gals who instantly shower these posts with "likes." Pathetic.

I haven't been but I'm curious, why are you? Sounds like you're not much of a fan.

I get that Matt is probably financing this entire album but $37 shipped for a single LP is a bit much.

It's 2xLP. I wonder if they're only pressing 500 or if there will be a black version to follow? There's probably not much margin left after pressing and shipping 500 double albums. Probably just enough to pay to get them made and have someone ship them.

  5. The Rentals put out a new song. I think they're announcing something today. Hopefully an album and pre-order. Yesterday, Matt Sharp posted a clip of smokey and the bandit captioned "tomorrow..."

I'm looking forward to this. I know he was working with Nick Zinner, Ronnie Vannucci, and Dave Fridmann

Edit: Just saw this go up - https://therentals.bandcamp.com/ First pressing on Translucent Gold colored vinyl for advance orders. limited to 500 copies only available here!

The White Album is so confusing.

I don't understand how a band can put out 4 exceptionally mediocre releases, then one of the greatest albums of all time, and follow that up with pure shite for the foreseeable future. Like how.

The White Album is confusing because it's all over the place but...

    Quote

A new producer was signed, Jake Sinclair, whom the band met during the recording for Raditude. The album has some classic-sounding songs like the Pinkerton style "Do You Wanna Get High?" and the The Blue Album-sounding "L.A. Girlz." There are also some new and modern sounding tracks like "Thank God for Girls" and "Jacked Up." Rivers has said that he was pushing for the new sound, while Jake wanted more classic style songs.

Personally, I think "Do You Wanna Get High?" is the only good song on the White Album and the rest is trash.
