  1. I know there have to be some fellow Porter fans on here and I want to talk to all of you, so here's the "official" (and by "official" I mean "I searched high and low for a Porter thread but couldn't find one so I made one myself") Porter Robinson thread! Feel free to discuss absolutely anything Porter related or maybe share similar artist's music. A little about me: I discovered Porter's music a little over a year ago now, shortly before "Worlds" came out, when a friend sent me "Sea Of Voices", "Lionhearted" and "Sad Machine" which were the only tracks released at the time. As someone who very sparingly liked electronic music at that point in my life, it honestly wasn't my cup of tea at first. Then I found out he was playing at the House Of Blues here in Orlando so I listened a little deeper to the album when it did release and watched videos of the live show he was performing in support of the album. That's when I absolutely fell in love. I spent the weeks leading up to the show watching the same videos of his show on repeat, just in in awe that something so beautiful was real and was going to happen to me. I ended up throwing away the ticket I had to see The Amity Affliction that night and got to the venue seven hours early. Thanks to downtown Disney's free WiFi, I was able to pick up an internet connection on my deactivated phone and I got an email from Astralwerks Records approving my prior request for a photo pass! I could go on for hours about how the show was the greatest night of my life, about how it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and how I cried the whole time... but I think the photos I took speak for themself. f/1.8 - 1/400 - 35mm - 3200 ISO I am not exaggerating when I say that I listened to nothing but "Worlds" and the remakes of the live edits for the entire year following the show. I'm only just now starting to open myself back up to other artists and I'm listening to Porter even as I type this. I also went on to host "The Sky Lounge", the official Plug.DJ (R.I.P.) community of /r/PorterRobinson (for those who frequent that subreddit). 【=◈︿◈=】【=◈︿◈=】【=◈︿◈=】
  2. I actually wasn't aware the Wharfedales were passive, thanks for the heads up. I shouldn't have any issues if I pair up the turntable and preamp I mentioned with the Audioengine A5+'s, right? That alone will cost me around $800-$850 (not including the cork mat I plan on buying and any additional cables/etc I'll need to purchase to connect everything) and I'm trying to keep the project under a thousand while still ending up with a proper setup that'll last me quite some time. I'm not really looking for a super amazing audiophile grade setup (yet). I mean, there's really not much I can do wrong here considering my current setup is a Crosley suitcase lol
  3. I'm gonna pick five just because my top ten tends to change very often. My absolute favorite album of all time: Porter Robinson - Worlds And then in no particular order I'd probably have to say... Silverstein - Discovering The Waterfront My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade Nirvana - Unplugged Masked Intruder - Masked Intruder I think I'm pretty okay with that list
  4. Kissimmee! I feel like we probably have friends in common on Facebook or something though because I've seen your username around before (unless maybe I've just seen it on here which I'm sure is another possibility) and that keywork tattoo does look very familiar.
  5. Ah okay, I saw those but was hoping for more... it's understandable though, they need their privacy. With the exception of ADTR (who is from Ocala only an hour from where I live, so I always have the off chance of them playing another secret show at an intimate venue for only 200 people like they did recently and NOT missing it next time I guess lol), TGI was the best part of that tour, so that really sucks for anyone who was planning on going. Also, your Amity collection is amazing... holy fuck.
  6. You're right, I asked them through their FB page and they said it was a typo.
  7. Any updates on their condition? The Ghost Inside is one of my favorite bands and this tragedy couldn't have happened to a more undeserving group of people.
  8. There are also Shaun Of The Dead pops coming soon too!
  9. I've been doing more research since posting this thread and I've also looked over the VC beginners thread. As of right now, the setup I'm considering is: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon > Behringer PP400 (preamp) > Audioengine A5's OR Wharfedale Diamond 10.1's
  10. Also, you've got a lot of great stuff in your collection if I do say so myself! Especially those Have Mercy albums, band slays. No problem!
  11. Ebay! The cheapest atm is $40 though and you don't get the shirt (if that's a deal breaker for you lol) :\
  12. Dude that Purpose LP is getting flipped for like $40-$60+ on Ebay but I got lucky and found a brand new, still sealed copy that also included a t-shirt (which I'll be sending to my cousin for Christmas, she's a massive "belieber") for $25 and free shipping. What's your favorite track? I really enjoy all of the bigger tracks ("Where Are U Now", "Sorry", "What Do You Mean", "Love Yourself") but "Children" was also such a pleasant surprise. I've never liked his music until now but I've always thought he was very talented and this record shows that, in my opinion. Ever since he did "Where Are U Now" with Jack U (Skrillex and Diplo) he's been going in a more EDM/Techno direction and I absolutely love it.
  13. I can't lie, I've been jamming the ever loving fuck out of the new Justin Bieber record. It's fantastic.
  14. I'm not sure how rare it is, but I recently picked up my first Funko pop! I traded in my copy of Battlefront at Gamestop (was not feeling that game at all) and ended up buying my mother the classic Mickey and Minnie Mouse figures for Christmas but I had $10 left over so I bought myself this Hatsune Miku pop (yeah yeah I know, I'm weeaboo trash blah blah blah lol).
  15. Oooh, definitely interested in hearing more about these. Also I PMed you about something else, Travis.
  16. So I guess this confirms there there is no difference between the copy on Doghouse's website and the copies on other websites like Amazon/Best Buy/SRC! Now, I wonder if it actually is /300 or if that was a typo and it's /3000. I'm hard pressed (*ba dum tis*) to believe it actually is /300 though. Thanks for sharing How does it sound?
  17. I have to admit I don't know much about the technical side of turntables yet, so a lot of what you're saying doesn't make much sense to me (yet, I'm learning!). Is there a specific model you would recommend? I do enjoy the look of the LP120 but the look definitely doesn't matter too much. Preferably something within this price rage, I don't have a $800 to spend on a turntable right now. EDIT: I just discovered the thread that breaks all of this down in detail and it also has a lengthy list of suggested equipment at different price ranges. Sorry to be a pain, thanks for all of the input though guys!
  18. Thanks for the two cents, regardless! A lot of reviews these days on some products aren't genuine though, so I decided I'd probably get the most non-biased and genuine opinions here. It seems like a great turntable for the price, but obviously there are better options out there if you're willing/able to shell out more.
  19. I've been collecting for a couple years now and made the (what most people would consider) unfortunate mistake of picking up a Crosley as my first record player. I was unemployed at the time and while I recognized the fact that it wasn't perfect, I pulled the trigger because it would get me started. And it did for a while, but now I've found work and can actually afford to take my addiction more seriously. Sure I've been buying plenty of new records, but obviously at this point the best investment I can make isn't more albums but a PROPER turntable and audio set-up. Enter the turntable I've been most interested in here of lately, the Audio Technica AT-LP120 (in black obviously, because black is better). I've heard nothing but good things about this turntable and for the price (roughly $250) it seems like a great investment. I wanted to make a post here first though and get some more in depth opinions any of you may have to offer me, positive or negative. Does anybody reading this have any personal experience with this turntable? Can you suggest a better alternative within a similar price range? Or maybe you can suggest a good speaker/amp set up that would be compatible with the AT-LP120 (or another turntable of your suggestion)? Lets talk!
  20. I'd cry if 宇宙コンビニ (Uchu Conbini) ever got their discography released on vinyl... they broke up not too long ago though so it'll probably never happen... *goes to cry in my corner*
  21. DO IT, that's such a good deal. You'll never find it cheaper than $100-$250.
