Saw TEN play at Warped yesterday. I went for them and them only. Even though I'm not hot on In Currents, they played 3 songs off it and they sounded great. They've always been an incredibly entertaining live band. Serg is an awesome hype man. Though Jeff was sorely missed. It brought back a lot of great memories. Damn. Thanks for posting that. Went in for those bundled 10"s! Still a bit expensive, but it feels more justified now. Been playing the new song on repeat a lot. Even my wife likes it and she didn't like Barton Hollow much at all.

Lions just isn't that good. And definitely not the best song on the record. I suppose I did contradict myself. But there's nothing really elevating that song above the others, unless you count the soaring/shouting vocals thing he does during the "I'd do my best as a lover, be as cool as a thief" line. Close Enough is the standout track, to me.

That's a nice benchmark to set. We shouldn't expect more because he's written less than stellar lyrics before. Sure, tons of his old songs are full of non-sequiturs and cliches. But he's arranged and performed them well. He touched on that a little in this record. I dunno, I guess I just always hoped Ace's music would grow with him. He's got a wife and two kids now. Dude is 31. And trying to do a singer-songwriter thing aimed at high schoolers. Great example of what I'm talking about. Mediocre lyrics, incredible performance.

How is Lions the best track on here? Are we all hearing the same lyrics?
