  1. Omega Massif rules. Check it out if you're not already familiar. RIYL: Russian Circles, Neurosis, GYBE, Pelican, heavy riffz
  2. Backing a KickStarter is not the same as purchasing goods at retail pricing. You are providing cash up front to help an idea to see fruition and receiving a gift as a thank you.EDIT: this is why I disagree with the KickStarter platform being used to fund intangible ideas like music and art. It's meant for consumer goods.
  3. I used to have bands sign records I picked up at their show or brought from home. The only ones I can recall that I still have are Mates of State's "Bring It Back" and Mute Math's self-titled.
  4. No record will be able to recreate the full body massage one experiences from the low end at their shows. But I'll happily pick this up and spin it anyway.
  5. I'm planning my tour flight schedule to hopefully make their Manchester, UK show in October. It'd be fucking awesome to see those two play together. They each get their own full set. Hopefully atleast an hour or 90 minutes each.
  6. I got a 2 bedroom apartment. Records go in one bedroom and that door stays shut. You could also install a sliding plexiglass front to go in front of it. Would look really sexy if you could set the expedit back in a wall or closet
  7. Two years on from the release of Russian Circles' Empros, the Chicago instru-metal trio have announced that their next set,Memorial, is due October 29 through Sargent House. A press release notes that the band's fifth full-length found them re-teaming with producer Brandon Curtis (the Secret Machines, Interpol), who had worked behind the boards on Empros and 2009's Geneva. The eight-song set was recorded at Chicago's Electrical Audio studio, and according to bassist Brian Cook, the band "set out to make a straightforward, intense, heavy record." "We've always tried to balance our metal-influenced sounds with more nuanced, pretty, orchestral elements," he said in a statement. "But this time, it's far more polarized in that the heavy parts are much more blown out and exaggerated while the pretty moments are far more restrained, delicate, and atmospheric." To preview the "darker and more sombre sounds" of Memorial, the band are now streaming the doomy, chugging licks and brutalized drums of post-apocalyptic dirge "Deficit," which you can check out down below. Elsewhere, opener "Memoriam" is said to feature delicate six-string plucks and a hazy wall of synths, while labelmate Chelsea Wolfe adds "reverb-soaked" guest vocals to the closing title track, a song that apparently conjures both the first track's melody and Julie Cruise's Twin Peaks theme song. You can find the tracklisting down below and the album art above. Russian Circles will be touring Europe this fall with Chelsea Wolfe, while a North American headlining trek is tentatively scheduled for early 2014. Memorial: 1. Memoriam 2. Deficit 3. 1777 4. 8. Just finished Disc 1 of the LP. It sounds beautiful. "The One That Got Away" and "Dust To Dust" are still my favorites so far. Looking forward to the rest an the EPs.
  9. Crap. I still need this. Weren't they gonna repress it?
  10. Thanks to user lehooch for hooking it up with a release show copy of this beast. So in love right now And here's the /100 screen printer cover copy:
  11. Agreed. Saw it last night. My lady and I walked out scratching our heads, but loved the cinematography. Oh well.
  12. Wrapping up a European tour/vacation today and I walked into a store called Vinyl Exchange in Manchester, UK. Walked out 10 minutes later with a copy of Ryan Adams' Gold on Red/Blue vinyl (promo copy) #667/1000 for £90. So happy. It's been on my want list for years.
