  1. I'm not sure anyone deserves to go #1 this year I just hope the wolves don't pick someone who will suck in 2 years
  2. heavy sigh... don't worry -- he's not a dirty player.
  3. never been more interested to see how a new head coach does than now. I hope he does well
  4. [rather than start a new thread for each of the new releases, I'm just gonna pretend this is a "New Releases from It's Alive Records (Mean Jeans, Underground Railroad to Candyland, the Crusades, the Copyrights, and more)" thread] super stoked about the crusades 7" and the copyrights 2x12", and I'll probably pick up some of the other releases because IAR puts out a lot of great music
  5. game 1 of the finals is on june ~6th, regardless of how long the miami/indiana series is, so all miami can do is try to maximize their own rest
  6. word. the review should just say "dunk punk? this is the least punk record since green day's last album. instead of collaborating with the likes of julian casablancas and pharrell williams, this french duo would be better served working with taylor swift and going back to punk's roots -- songs about failed relationships. also, they should put studs and spikes on their helmets."
  7. soothsayer still gives me chills. I have no idea if it's technical or otherwise super hard to play, but I don't really care -- it's just a damn good song. oh, and the song goes great with his mask. seeing a face that was doing anything other than holding back tears or something would totally ruin it. now will someone please press a 45 rpm 12" with soothsayer on both sides? then if I wear out the a-side, I've still got soothsayer on the b-side. other than that, I have little else to add to this conversation
  8. I'm assuming/hoping memphis is beating the winner of the SA/GS series, just as I'm assuming miami is beating the winner of the NY/indy series
  9. wow, slightly shocked that the thunder actually went down in 5. did durant shoot 5/21 because he was having an off night, or was that the grizzlies' defense? anyhoo, go grizzlies! hopefully their defense and the strong frontcourt can stop miami...
  10. I just want to say that I'm embarrassed that I completely forgot marc gasol when I made this comment. I'd take gasol over howard
  11. I watched the beginning of the game, turned off the tv, saw that it was double OT with 4 seconds left, and turned it back on just in time to see that shot. that's gonna hurt...
  12. I think if I was picking a center to win a championship, I'd go with howard, but if I'm picking a center to win a game, I'd go with noah. and if I'm picking a center to win a fight, I'm going with pekovic here's a question for you: would you rather have noah or derrick rose?
  13. I feel like the pressing quality on most of my 7"s is worse than my 12"s, so I generally hate when anything is on a 7"... I also hate the lack of a spine and how 7"s typically open on the top instead of the side. I'd rather pay $9 for a one-sided 12" than ~$5 for a two-sided 7"
  14. clips/grizz game was super fun to watch, especially when matt barnes kept freaking out because he thought he got ejected
  15. I don't know if anything will happen to the records themselves, but I don't like it. I put empty mailers and those cardboard squares on my shelf to help keep everything upright. these also serve as placeholders of records I've got on pre-order
  16. I'm thinking about going just to pick up the walking dead ~issue. and I think it's funny how RSD encourages music fans to support record stores by selling overpriced records, while FCBD encourages comic book fans to support comic book stores by giving away free comics...
  17. kluwe isn't gay (or at least isn't out), he's just outspoken for gay rights this, plus part of our society thinks "two girls" = "hot" and "two guys" = "gross"
  18. after an injury-filled season for both of my teams (lakers and wolves), and after seemingly every team who could ~compete with miami has gotten hurt (e.g., thunder, boston, indiana, chicago, etc.), finally there's an nba story that I can be happy about http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9223657/jason-collins-first-openly-gay-active-player
  19. I'm expecting a win for LA in game 3, a close loss in game 4 (just to make me feel like they have a chance in the series), and then a decisive spurs win game 5. I haven't watched a game since kobe went down, but they're not going to win many games (playoffs or otherwise) if howard and gasol don't dominate the boards
  20. ^^ if durant and the thunder can beat miami, I'm all for it
  21. I voluntarily do a noon - 4am day. depending on your job, I'd recommend taking a bit of down time after work before bed -- maybe find a tv show online that you can watch every night? that's pretty much what I did over christmas break with dexter, breaking bad, and walking dead. that said, I'm far from "normal"
  22. I figured it had to do with (perceived) terrorist ties. I imagine society makes the distinction by asking "are you a muslim?", or rather "do you look like a muslim?" otherwise, he'd just be considered a crazy person. I mean, had that chris dorner guy been captured, I doubt there would have been any miranda rights / "enemy combatant" debate. sure, I don't think he had explosives, but he was highly trained and was on the run for over a week. fortunately, it's hard to find an example that has all three of the following: [a] non-muslim bad guy, has explosives, and [c] ran from the cops
  23. maybe this first half is why derrick rose doesn't feel "mentally ready" to come back this postseason...
