Someone hasn’t heard the armed. if this is a full length, I hope they lean into their longer more fledged out songs like daymare. The short bursts of aggression are cool but I think they really shine when they open up the song structures. This band has a classic in them, I just know it.

Matador constantly be repressing shit so I’m not worried about getting a copy of this next year, but the big takeaway here is HOLY SHIT NEW JULIEN BAKER. Single is excellent. You can tell she’s been chilling with PhoeB a lot.

Man, I listened to Stage Four for the first time in a good long while cause it’s an exhausting listen, and I just don’t see how they’re gonna ever top it. I mean I am excited for Lament but SF is just bottled lightning. few albums make me feel like this. I miss my Mimi. Fuck cancer.

Im also aware that this is a shallow comparison but I’ve been on an animal collective kick lately and the ascension just sounds like AC-Lite to me at times for a band that already sounds like a bunch of kindergartners on acid with toy instruments that isn’t much of an achievement

Not entirely sure, maybe I was just cranky but I found it to just be shallow, especially lyrically. Really weak imagery from someone who’s always had a good track record with lyrics. carrie and Lowell never really clicked with me, and to be honest I’m fine with not being able to relate to an album about dead parents quite yet.
