  1. only 28 left of the "Colored Vinyl Record Club" left....
  2. i picked up the numbered blue vinyl at their SXSW showcase in 2006... and had a bit of a chat with Davey and Dan.... nice to see it being repressed, it sold out rather quickly. where are the Promise Ring reissues?
  3. on "clouds taste metallic" there is some surface noise which is barely audible on my copy, thoroughly listened to via headphones and thru the loud speakers. upon reading your comment (surfingelectrode), i wanted to listen to the highs and lows (good example would be "bad days")... i have no complaints. better than the original green translucent vinyl... while the pressing of this set would not be considered "audiophile quality" in my opinion, i could honestly say that i am quite pleased with the sound quality of all the albums... to say the least. prime example of a flaming lips "audiophile quality" recording and a decent quality recording would be the two versions of "at war with the mystics", one on "180 gram high performance vinyl".... and the other on colored. i did purchase both versions and the difference is quite obvious... i no longer have the colored version. overall, i give the colored version of the heady nuggs box set a 9 out of 10. 10 would have included zaireeka, but that's another story... as for that response from the brothers at Warner... i agree 100%. bullshit.
  4. perhaps it's only for the colored edition... not numbered. no promo stickers on the shrinkwrap. anyone notice the text on the lip of inside the box? and yes... i'm in awe of the colored vinyl. mine looks a bit more marbled/splattered. i've read that some who ordered the colored edition received black copies of "Transmissions...." rather than white. i'm not a fan of white vinyl... but this one is amazing...
  5. i was quite elated to hear this fabulous news.... not so much for this particular split release, but the fact that their sessions are going to be released on VINYL. just sifting thru my ipod now and have nearly 500 daytrotter tracks from over the years... well done daytrotter.
  6. topher and gkersey... thank you! $47.08 shipped with the discount! ... and a keychain!
  7. It's up!! http://www.flaminglips.com/headynuggs/ Order now!
  8. it's probably "punk rock girl"... http://www.deadmilkmen.com/discography/ i used to have the UK 12" EP with the jacket many, many years ago...
  9. NoControl... thanks for posting this! That refreshing thing was nuts... perhaps the site was overloaded with people trying to snag one... glad I got a clear copy!
  10. Will there be a certain time on the 16th when the Heady Nuggs Box set will be available for purchase via the Flaming Lips site? 12:01AM EST, perhaps?
  11. After 3.5 full length albums, released indie/major/self, Margot is exploring the Direct-to-Fan way of releasing records. In the past, we haven’t attempted this model because, quite honestly, a lot of the campaigns we saw felt disingenuous and at times, distasteful. We didn’t feel we had incentives to make it as cool as we wanted it to be, and we weren’t willing to peddle old t-shirts or stick Red Bull banners on the bus to make it happen. But now it’s 2011, and we feel like we have enough cool things to make it worthwhile; and we have the songs to make a great record. Working on this record makes us very happy. And now we have people who make us very happy coming into the picture and asking if they can be involved in promoting this album. So to finish it, in the manner we feel it deserves, we thought we would spend a couple months putting together a list of incentives for people who were kind enough to contribute to the funding of a full length Margot LP. If, at the end of two months, we hadn’t come up with things that we personally would love to purchase from a band we were fans of, we would’ve forgotten the whole thing and finished the album in Tyler’s bathroom… or something. Well, we think we came up with a solid list of incentives, so we don’t feel too bad asking y’all to consider pledging whatever you can to help us finish our best record. As you can see from the list of incentives, you’ll have access to a whole load of stuff that we’ve dug out of the Margot vaults, including long out of print 7"s, test pressings, the “payphone” single, super rare versions of the new album, never before released demos, etc etc etc. We’ve tried to make the list unique, so be sure to look at the list carefully. We have also tried to capture the long lost magic of the Tuesday release, record store experience by offering some “Record Club” packages, that give access to tons of unreleased Margot material, delivered to pledgers on various Tuesdays over the course of the year, so check those out. Again, we aren’t selling items, or pre-selling the record; we are asking those of you who have a more intense relationship with Margot’s music to actually assist the band in creating a new album. And we hope you get some cool stuff in exchange for your contribution. Thanks for reading. Margot. http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/margot-the-nuclear-so-sos The "Colored Vinyl Record Club" for $65.00 gets you the new album on white vinyl, "Gold Membership" status - priority ordering for the "Dust of Retreat" vinyl (it's going to be limited, folks). Unreleased tunes from their vault, etc... Pledge now!
  12. Murakami's one of the greatest storytellers, past or present. Just completed "Kafka on the Shore" a couple weeks ago... brilliant. That A.I.R. deluxe LP release seems amazing, but a bit pricey. The proceeds are going to the people of Nippon.... count me in, ordered. When is "Return of The Rentals" getting a proper LP release?
