  1. It's not a thing like, "oh my nails need to be trimmed.." NOMNOMNOM! It's either a dexterous or oral fixation, a nervous habit, or some other subconscious urge. I think I'm a double-wammy because I like chewing on things and I always fiddle, so if I have nothing to do with myself and am distracted or deep in thought, I catch my fingers in my mouth all the time. Shockingly, I work in a school and live in ice rinks, which are both notoriously terrible when it comes to cleanliness, and I rarely get sick. I have the immune system of a mo'fuckin CHAMP! edit: dexterous is certainly not the right word, but I don't know a way to phrase it... what I'm going for is the urge to play with your fingers or doing something with your hands.
  2. I love Berman (as do most Buffalonians) because ever since Tim Russert died, Berman's been the only one cheering for the Bills on national TV.
  3. I never owned a FIFA myself, but FIFA is a great social game. I play NHL by myself mostly, but in high school we'd challenge each other to FIFA all the time because it's intense. Great game, but I'm not a social gamer.
  4. That's me, going from '11 to '13 (whenever it gets to my house). I've been playing the demo and really getting the hang of it. It's got a lot more realism to the movements and the physics of the game. I like that you can't just wiggle the stick around and dipsi-doodle between defenders. I can't wait for the game to get here, especially if a lockout comes.
  5. I do that too, but sometimes it's just a hassle, ya know? I've also nearly crashed a few times reloading, so I gotta do that when I'm stopped.
  6. I do mine as kind of a nervous habit / boredom thing. I need to be doing something with my hands so while I'm doing something tedious, I end up biting my nails. Driving is the worst. For a while I kept a stockpile of gum and that kind of helped, but when I didn't have gum I went back to it.
  7. I acknowledge all of that. Yesterday I was reading an article in New York Hockey Journal about every kid playing goalie on a young house team. The coach's philosophy is that you can *think* you know what it's like to be a goalie, but until you hop in there for yourself, you don't really, truly get it. That's what I want. You can armchair quarterback all you want, and you can draw up the best plays in the world, but if you're never out there on the field, you haven't experienced it enough to TRULY get it. Yes, not every player is a good analyst. I say the same thing about coaching - Gretzky was the best thing to happen to hockey and he was a TERRIBLE coach. The people who see the whole game the best are often the ones who were involved but in a marginal role so they spent time on the bigger picture. I'm not asking for Clayton to have been All-Pro MVP, but in the same way I take nothing from anything Jim Rome says, it's easy to criticize people for something you've never even tried. Oh well. I know most people disagree with me, it's just a legitimacy thing I can't get over.
  8. The only apple products I've ever owned were a 20 gb white 2nd (maybe 3rd?) gen iPod that I got my freshman year of college. It was going strong until it was stolen my senior year of college. Then with my grad money I bought a 160gb iPod classic and that's all I'll ever need.
  9. Maybe it's because I don't care about the NFL, but this guy always seemed ridiculous to me. The guy CLEARLY never played sports in his life. I always laugh at people like this, who live on the sidelines without ever doing it themselves. My next door neighbor growing up could rattle off baseball stats like it was his job, but he couldn't throw a baseball. Not like, he just wasn't good at it, he couldn't throw a ball. How do you "love" a sport but not do it? I'm not saying you need to go pro in it, but give it a shot.
  10. Anyone get NHL13 yet? I pre-ordered from Toys R Us because it was only $45 but I won't get it until tomorrow, and maybe not until Tuesday, because I cheaped out on shipping.
  11. Going back to the young girls thing, I coach girls hockey at the high school level and teach high school, so I have a lot of obstacles: a- I find it creepy, even if she's 20 or 21 and "legal" that I could have taught her. I know this will get worse as I get older. b- I see a lot of the immaturity of my students just in the faces of these younger girls, even if they're old enough to be in bars. c- There's a lot of siblings and Buffalo is a small town, so usually these young'ns have siblings I will encounter in some professional capacity.
  12. Yea, I got mine in an LP mailer in a bigger box with bubble protection.
  13. As a 26 year old, I find a lot of 20-23 year olds fawning after me. It depends on the person, obviously, but they hardly ever come across as crazy and young. I get annoyed with the naivety sometimes, but what are you gonna do.. they still have to experience the real world.
  14. I don't know what job you do, but having your headphones on 90% of the time doesn't help either. Anyone who "LoOoOoVeS County!" or however it was phrased doesn't really take their music seriously. That's why those things don't matter much to me. That girl (or guy) will listen to whatever is catchy and popular, so their musical tastes can easily be shaped when you get into a point in the relationship where it might actually matter, like living together. Music is a big part of my life, but I can't think of a girl I dated who I didn't end up influencing and bringing into my musical world a bit. I mean, I'm not going to take a Miley Cyrus fan and get her listening to ETID, but there's middle ground. Country is an easy fix - you show her stuff like Lucero or Trampled by Turtles and rope her in that way. Anyone who listens to pop music can easily be steered towards better music because they don't critically listen to music, they just hear whatever is on. The only way any of this is a problem is if music is basically your defining factor and YOU can't function on any other topic. Edit: If the person does have their own serious music tastes, you'll be able to connect on the depth and the exploration aspect, even if it's underground hip-hop compared to death metal.. you may clash, but the search and the appreciation is shared.
  15. I mean, I like music as much as the next guy, but I feel like there's bigger character traits out there I look for in girls.
  16. - My stupid drunk friends forgot to be drunk with me today, so instead... + I cleaned my closet / room and it's super organized now. THANKS A LOT, FRIENDS!
  17. Life's too short to be offended by pictures on the internet. I find offensive things funny because it's a whole lot less stressful to laugh than be pissed off. I've faced my fair share of adversity in life and I can't think of anything that truly offends me.
  18. I wish every record didn't come with a gatefold jacket. I only have so much in the way of shelving, I don't have space for all these gatefolds.
  19. I haven't heard the band, but will give them a shot, but I want to give you props for doing it right - fronting the money yourself and making sure it all actually pans out before committing them to customers. I hope everything goes smoothly for you!
  20. Was it health insurance, or just the USA Rugby (or whatever the org is) insurance? For USA Hockey, if I get hurt either as a player or a coach in a USA Hockey sanctioned event (ie team practice, game, tourney) I am covered by their insurance, but only after I pay $1000 out of pocket. It's supplemental insurance but for those like me with none, it picks up the tab after $1000 up to $1mil I think. We filled out a form when my sister shattered her ankle a couple years ago but she had real insurance and our out-of-pocket was only like $200.
  21. Things are only awkward if you let them be. Just ask her, if it doesn't work out, shrug, say something like, "just thought I'd ask.. see ya next time!" and just be normal next time you come in. Wear an awesome shirt and just say hi. I'm also REALLY good at pretending things never happened.
  22. - I am hunnnnng overrrrrrrr. + Tomorrow is the first game of the season for my girls 16u team that I coach. We're playing in a Canadian league, so we're playing Niagara Falls (Ont) as a scrimmage. We have 3 more scrimmages this month before heading to Cleveland to hopefully dominate a tournament.
