  1. The Leonard Maltin game (movie trivia guessing game. See Doug Loves Movies podcast for rules and how it works).
  2. Probably not going to be able to go. Just looking for face value. $44 for the pair. Dustin Kensrue (of Thrice) Dan Andriano (of Alkaline Trio) Casey Crescenzo (of The Dear Hunter) Matt Pryor (of The Get Up Kids) Andy Jackson (of Hot Rod Circuit)
  3. So a new thread to try and sell the same albums and CDs that were not selling in the previous thread. Awesome. How's that working for you?
  4. They'd have to get the Juliana Theory records pressed first. I think folks who've ordered that one are still waiting...
  5. Agreed. Some deluxe versions of past albums would be much better received than a best of. That being said, Id pick this up for half the price and just the starburst set on its own.
  6. Got it. I didn't click through for the details on the bundle. I see it now. 5,000 copies of this is a lot of copies at that price point.
  7. I see the poster out of 1000 and the vinyl out of 4000. Nothing about starburst.
  8. Unless it's anything like their LIT release which was annouced last January as part of the 2014 subscription (and is still listed as one of the titles you get with your $300+ purchase) and hasn't been mentioned every again by SRC.
  9. I dig the back catalog and loved Beggars when it came out, but for some reason never even listened to this one... Decisions, decisions.
  10. If SRC is your favorite online distro, you're fucking doing it wrong.
  11. I've been to the theater twice this week. Saw John Wick and Interstellar. John Wick was great. I've always been a fan of Reeves (I know a lot aren't), and was immediately on board for this one. It's really simple and really straight forward. Basically an enjoy your popcorn and not think too hard action movie. Really dug the fight scenes. Definitely worth watching. Interstellar I saw yesterday afternoon and I'm still processing. So very much the opposite of John Wick earlier in the week. Nolan throws a ton of stuff at you. Space, Gravity, Relativity, Time, Love, Humanity, Matt Damon, multiple dimensions, physics, etc. I was really enjoying the movie till almost the end. Then it got weird (no spoilers of course), and then finished really strong. I have yet to decide if the really weird part was enough to sour me on the film or if as a whole the movie works so well and is so visually stunning and well acted that the weird part can be overlooked. There is also a real possibility that I don't understand the science and theory of "the weird part" and that is the reason I find it so weird. It's very possible those in the know or more well read on the subject understand it better and thus enjoyed it (or even potentially disliked) this piece of the movie more than myself. It's the kind of movie that my Dad loved (he sat next to me super giddy and kept telling me how "it's just like Stargate") and that had my Mom seen it she would've been checked out 10 minutes in and hated every second in the theater. She wouldn't care enough to get through the science of everything to enjoy a really strong story of love and humanity and survival.
  12. Watched both of these recently, didn't care for either. I love the first Sin City, but like you found the most recent one a bit dull. Eva Green however... yowzers. I didn't care much for the first Jump Street so I wasn't surprised to not care much for the new one. Meh. I guess if you loved the first one, you'll dig this one.
  13. My Favorites: Amoeba (LA)- Cause, come on. Look at that place. I also love their Berkeley and SF locations. Rhino (Claremont)- This is my RSD spot. They're great at getting in most of the releases, everything is well put together. Decent staff and if you're there with people not into records they have other stuff for them to check out too. Also, I love the downtown Claremont area. Great for Sunday brunch, cruising around and hitting up the record store. Left of the Dial (Santa Ana)- This isn't really a great place for hard to find albums or new releases (although they have do get that stuff in), but more so for picking up classic albums for really good prices. If you're trying to fill in a particular artist's back catalog, this is a good place to start. Also, they always have a Groupon available. $15 for $30 or $30 for $60 (used stuff only). Black Hole Records (Fullerton)- A classic spot for punk vinyl in Downtown Fullerton. Be prepared to pay out the ass though. This place charges top dollar for everything. However, if you absolutely NEED a copy of Mike Ness' solo records or a signed X album or a first press Bad Religion S/T, you'll most likely find it. Mr. C’s Records (orange)– In the Orange Circle in old town Orange. Been around for 40 years or something. Another spot that charges top dollar for albums. However, where you can really get some amazing finds is their ENOURMOUS selection of 45s. I’ve picked up a ton of singles from this place for pretty good prices. Last time I was in I found an original Carl Perkin’s Blue Suede Shoes single on Sun Records from 1954. Walked out with that plus a stack of other singles for under $40. Burger Records (Fullerton)- Tons of used stuff. Everything from show tunes to garage and punk. Pretty good pricing and if you’re into their own artists is a good place to pick up those releases too. This place is run by a bunch of hippies though and always smells of marijuana. Radiation Records (Fullerton/Anaheim)- Pretty much the opposite of Burger. Punk, Hardcore, Oi, etc. Small, crowded and a ton of stuff available. The last time I was in looking for Cramps stuff and the 15 year old kid behind the counter was discussing his favorite Czechoslovakian 80’s thrash bands with an older dude who collects Eastern European punk records. I didn’t recognize anything they were talking about, but they knew their shit.
  14. This came in yesterday, and aparently it's black w/ yellow splatter. Really nice packaging all around on this one.
  15. Instagram in fact. Dr Strange Records bought a large collection that included a ton of Converge and Integrity pieces and the clear with shards was apart of it. I called up several hours after they posted they bought this collection on the off chance they still had it... and they did. Gave me a good deal on it too. Also, it showed up yesterday. I came.
  16. This made me laugh. We'll just be the same person from here on out.
  17. Both came out great. I love the way the integrated the pattern and peaks into the owl. Really unique way to do that. Yours is more straightfoward, but just as well done. Cool idea and ended up done really well. Kudos!
