Marla reacted to brandy in PO: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Unlimited Love - April 1st, 2022
Nice to hear, Juan. To me, By The Way's mellowness and experimentation in the second half of the album really sets it apart from the other albums and is probably my favourite.
Stadium Arcadium, I always see people talk about it as if it was chock-full of filler but again, its mellowness and less-is-more guitar work really makes it great for me.
I felt Californication had great singles, some of my favourite songs ever, but as a cohesive whole the album lacks a bit of personality.

Kiedis must've watched a lot of Tiger King during quarantine.

Sad to see them become a parody of themselves, the new track is dull and lacking energy. Pass.

John Frusciante being back in this band is one of the biggest wastes of talent I can think of.

Marla reacted to hthbass in Best/Worst Customer Service from a Distro/Label?
Most of the bad ones were through small artists/labels on Bandcamp. I collect vaporwave which is pretty niche and most labels/artists are doing everything themselves, producing their own tapes and records, shipping themselves, etc etc. So I can't hate on them too much as for some, they're managing full time jobs along with making music/records/fulfilling orders, but some just drop the ball pretty badly and like take forever to ship things, never respond to emails, or don't ship things at all. I've had to file Paypal claims on a lot of items.
As far as shitty customer service, Down in the Valley has to be the worst as they accept ZERO responsibility for defective records. They'll only replace/refund records if it's an error on their part. ANY store I've bought from will, at the very minimum, replace or just ask to send the record back for a refund if the record itself is defective, as in like there's a scratch on it or something affects play. Down in the Valley's policy is basically all sales final and no refunds/replacements unless it's their fault. I ordered an imported record from them once and it was sealed/brand new, but when I played it, the record itself had a scratch and would skip. Their policy on scratched/defective records is to "contact the manufacturer to get a replacement." So yeah like I was really going to call some random vinyl plant in Germany and try to get them to ship me a new record, lmao.

Not sure if they've already been mentioned but I couldn't see anything from a quick search, but Specialist Subject Records over here in the UK are a superb distro. I couldn't recommend them enough, they're very helpful and always have a great range of stock of predominately punk/emo/hardcore/metal records. They're also a great label too with some banging releases over the years.

Good luck getting whatever it is considering the 1989 RSD version now goes for $1000

Counter-Counterpoint. The members of this board have a similar music tastes and the preorders/restocks/represses get posted here are more in line with that rather than the shotgun of here's all of the things the subreddit offers.
Also it's a lot more personable and fun here than a subreddit. Definitely a sense of community since it's a smaller space.
This is why I prefer to post/find my releases here. If I miss anything really cool these days, a) I didn't care enough b) It's probably way too expensive c) In the end there will always be a repress, patience is always key

Marla got a reaction from Tommy in New to the vinyl gang: Where to start?
Hi everyone!
I'm new to the vinyl community and I'm a bit lost 😂 I'm passionate about music and now that I finally have my own place I'm willing to start a vinyl collection and support the artists a little bit better. (hopefully)
Where do I start? I don't really want to give more money to amazon and don't have a record store near where I live.
Honestly open to recommendations for both learning about vinyl and buying them, especially if you know about more ethical / human options
Thank you!! 🙏🙏
