  1. Now THAT'S a fuckin' copy of this record! The Half Price here just has 8 copies of Streisand and Kristofferson and Tiptoes on DVD.
  2. Hey, guys! I just got back from a trip out West where I found a fucking sealed copy of that Compulsion record that's been in my sig for 5 years! And for only $10! What's new around he- HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I always feel obligated to post on this shit and the obvious message board response to that kind of statement is, "no one gives a fuck you don't even have 2 stars and your handle sounds gay." But the reason I feel obligated to post is because I feel like this is a legit community of like-minded people and I feel like I'm a part of it. This is the only board on which I ever bothered to have a login for a reason. So. My thoughts, as a Veteran of Virgil Wars. All IMO. Feel free to ignore. 1. For whatever reason (which we, the public, may never know), SRC banned a dude who they thought was stealing their business, which he probably was because, as Mike Birbiglia said about "choosing" airlines: "If it was $.07 cheaper, I'd have flown on a kite." Scott nailed it with his free shipping post, too. 2. SRC "took over" this board so they get to ban who they want, even if it's short-sighted and will lose them support among the only real community that matters in terms of their client base. That they "run" the board is most certainly a misuse of the word since there aren't even real display ads on it anymore. They probably had some grand plans to do something bigger with it but they're too busy running a distro. But it's still Vinyl Collective. When it becomes the Shop Radio Cast Forum, no one will post on it anymore and they know that. Banning other distros is, at the very least, walking the line and at worst, crossing it. 3. IVWT shouldn't have responded or posted anything on Facebook about it. It's not that big of a deal to not be on this board since everyone would immediately have noticed his departure and looked into it. He won't lose any business over not posting his records here. We all know how to get in touch with SRC and IVWT outside of this board. 4. We all kind of like the occasional drama here and we shouldn't pretend not to. It's where good GIFs get their wings. Just let the people who stoke it do their thing, partake in what you like and ignore what you don't. Just like at an orgy. 5. On my trip, I also snagged a copy of the Sarge record for $4! I didn't even know it was on vinyl!
  3. Is this happening? Or just hoping? Think he was being sarcastic. Though it is not out of the realm of possibility if they remaining majors can figure out who actually owns this license.
  4. (it's all over Discogs, click the link) $12 for a fucked up copy. two others in Europe for E12 and E39. IF you find a mint copy in a store for under $10, buy it. For an immensely popular record from 1985, that's expensive. Labyrinth soundtrack even moreso.
  5. Surprisingly hard to find. I look in the soundtrack section every record store I'm in specifically for this record. This and the "Power of Love" 12" (even more rare) are the only place that song appears on vinyl I think. Certainly you own "Sports," though, right? It's where Huey Lewis really came into his own- both creatively and commercially.
  6. Just listened to this. It's not the white vinyl that's the problem since it's only on side 2. Really bummed.
  7. I just got a copy of the green/clear and was super stoked to play it. But the clear LP sounds really terrible. Anyone else having an issue with noise on this record? I'm gonna give it another try but thought I'd see if this was a known issue.
  8. Just listened as well. Easily my favorite since The Ugly Organ. This topic has been beaten to death, but I'll say that I can't even imagine how someone would actively like Happy Hollow. I actually deleted it from my iPod after giving it about 15 tries. And that's saying something, given that Tim is right up there with J Robbins in terms of artists whose work I respect almost unconditionally. To each his own, of course, but I think this new one should please a good number of Cursive fans as it's very representative of all their records in a way. Not quite the hard edge of their first 4 records (a bite I dearly miss), but solid on first listen. Can't wait to spin it loud and proud!
  9. Weird. When I added the Helmet records to my cart when they came out, it wanted a ton. I guess it's $3.50 per item in cart which is bullshit, but for one record totally appropriate.
  10. They "found" some copies. $52 + some absurd shipping. In case anyone's dying for a color copy. Black's back up too for $50. http://www.orgmusic.com/store/reissues/jimmy-eat-world-bleed-american-deluxe-vinyl/ Get it while it's hot. Get it while it's colored.
  11. We shot a video for these dudes after the Tossers recommended us. Super solid guys. Not my type of music at all. Their dad's their manager which had the potential to be weird, but he was also cool. I'm not a Christian, and I could see the potential for these guys getting a bit evangelical, but nothing bad to say about them from my experience.
  12. You can preorder these at Music Direct as well, since that's the retail outlet of MoFi now. I'd rather get the mono boxset with 8 albums for >$200 though, since I hear those sound excellent.
  13. Ladd and Miles once told me that they had "tons of that stuff." They never put it on their website because, at the time, MP3.com was paying artists for downloads. So the plan was to slowly release demos and stuff on there so they could get paid. Obviously, that panned out for no one. But lots of stuff exists, I assure you. I'll look for that disc- the MP3s I have of the record are from it, but I think they're 128k from my Winamp days. And, again, not sure at all how different it might be. But I'll see if I have the disc. EDIT: Found the disc. Does the retail version have an 11th track that's just :42 of drum beats? If not, then there might be some small differences in this version. Turns out those two demo tracks aren't on this disc either, so I'm not sure where I got those.
  14. It's still available. Sweet! I can kick myself whenever I want!
  15. Was any more info about this released? I slept on it and need to know if I should kick myself now or later.
  16. fer reals. i'd buy that copy of hello nasty from 'em. Or the Magnetic Fields boxset!
  17. Just went through my Park stuff and found another track called "All Night Long." I may have just given it that name- it's from that unmastered disc my version of "Kill Collapse" came from. Anyone know anything about it? EDIT: It's just the demo version of "Numerous Murders." Damn it's been a long time since I've listened to this stuff! Also, in a related note, I never got Early August's first release. Anyone have it? I could ask Steve but he' lives in Brazil...
  18. The box set it more comprehensive (it has the bonus disc w/ Mirrors & Fevers) but I bet these pressings sound better. Decisions decisions...
  19. No reason to pay for than $5 for Mood Ring. Dude who pressed them had like 100 of them still in stock and was selling them on the Park messageboard when it existed. Plenty of those in existence to meet the demand.
  20. Spiraling Shape is the song I heard the one and only time I called Dial-a-Song. So this record is special. Mentally ordered.
  21. Buying Chuck records has become like Marvel comics in the mid-90s crossover era. Every time I see dude has another split, I think, "Man, I just like the X-Men. Don't make me buy Ghost Rider to find out what Logan is doing in Japan please." Nothing wrong with Ghost Rider. Just not my book.
  22. No Idea (and this release in particular) is why I stopped getting more than one copy of a record. So, in a way, I guess they eventually made my life less difficult.
  23. I can't wait for 2XLP versions of all those MTX records! If someone pressed 300 of each, I bet they'd sell... to me.
  24. I got all copies of this record because I fucking loved it. I also shot their second show. Can't remember if I put those on YouTube or not.
