  1. Who's got two thumbs, paid for a shirt he didn't want and feels like a sucker. All us guys.

  3. Nothing limited, except that orders from their site get entered in the contest to win the silly ass limited version of The King Is Dead that is unlikely to ever sell out. I can't justify $18 for a 10" so I'll hope for a used one at some point.
  4. No Idea put a few back in their store this morning. Grabbed one finally but I don't really need the shirt. So much for voting against package deals with my dollars.
  5. Came across this thread as I just picked up a copy of this. I had no idea it was even OOP, much less as limited as these numbers seem to say. Is someone repressing these (either legally or not so)? This copy has a barcode and logos for Defiance, Rough Trade and Distort. Copy looks new, though one side of the record is pressed to the gills- right up to the label. Other side has normal Defiance stamping in the dead wax (like my old HWM pressings). Anyone got any clues? I'm not an Alexisonfire superfan, but I bet someone who is would like to know if there are (or will soon be) lots of cheap copies of this out there!
  6. I tend to agree, but weren't there like 3 colors of each of these for the Baked Goods releases? And 500 of each? That's a lot of records for a band that lots of people who buy records already have. I'd like a better pressing of the first J Mascis solo acoustic record though. My original sounds pretty thin, if I recall correctly.
  7. Great advice! Too bad I don't know how to file suit against a company that won't even give me a direct line to someone other than my sales rep. Risky hiring a lawyer knowing you may be stuck paying him as well. These two articles gave me pause: Why I Sued Google (and Won) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-greenspan/why-i-sued-google-and-won_b_172403.html Why Google Bothered to Appeal a $761 Small Claims Case (And Won) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-greenspan/why-google-bothered-to-ap_b_213176.html Fascinating reads for anyone who thinks that faceless companies are taking over the planet.

  9. I figure we're a young, hip, professional message board of tech savvy individuals. Someone else here certainly used Google AdWords for work or their own stuff. So anyway, probably just venting here, but thought I'd throw it out there. I ran a campaign last month on Google TV Ads. It's like Google AdWords for television commercials. Some differences, but the interface is very similar. Basically what happened is that I spent the entire month of July managing this campaign (which had a $2000 budget), adjusting the budget and bids on a daily basis to make sure that we didn't overspend. The cost column's total changed daily and I would change my bids accordingly- always adjusting the daily budget to be $2000 minus whatever it was saying we had already spent. Google TV Ads billable impressions counts change every day because it takes 4 days to get all the data in, so I was meticulous about checking every day. At one point, after our costs hit $1900, I paused the campaign and figured we had gotten close enough. I logged in a few days later to check the adjustments and the total had dropped to under $500. I contacted our rep and he said he'd look into it (he's an utter douche, BTW). The next day, I woke up to an email from Google saying they had tried to charge the card attached to the account for $5200 worth of impressions. I freaked out and called our rep, who was nice enough to agree to help "even though it didn't affect his metrics." He called back a few hours later and said, "Yeah, I talked to tech and they said it was a known technical issue on our end. For some reason, it was switching the Costs column totals with the Overdelivery column totals. It affected about 1000 customers and they said it was like $500k worth of backbilling they had to do. Should be all fixed now so that billing amount is accurate." I almost pulled a Mattress King on that guy right then. He argued with me for a while about how I should have known better even though the data they were supplying me with was inaccurate. Every day I was adjusting my budget, I was basing it on the Costs column and, unbeknownst to me, Google was erroneously shifting stuff to the Overdelivery column (that clearly states is unbillable). So I was working for an entire month on inaccurate data due to a technical glitch on their end and now they've fixed it and are trying to bill be for 10X what my account told me was billable by the end. So I've talked to another person at Google who basically said the same thing, ("The billing is accurate. Pay up.") and I'm beginning to feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. No real person in the real world I've talked to has said, "Well they can't be expected to pay that difference either." Everyone has been shocked that I'm being asked to make up the difference. I feel like I'm in the fucking Twilight Zone. My question for you guys is, do you have a contact at Google that would listen to reason? Has anyone had a positive realtime experience with a Google rep, account manager or support person with whom I can be put in touch? My next step is to bring in a lawyer (who said we absolutely have a case) and I can't even get a direct line for anyone but my rep. The place is like Willy Wonka's factory or something. If anyone knows a friendly ear there, please let me know.
  10. It's been said many times in this thread, and I hate to say it at all, but you absolutely HAVE to use a sniping program to win anything. I use Quicksnipe and will continue to even though they have to charge now. Never failed me.
  11. dont forget the 3% from paypal too. all the more reason to heart discogs (now if only they could get more traffic from buyers) Had my stuff on Discogs for a year and sold maybe 15% of it. Switched it over to eBay and sold 30% of it in 3 days. Hard to argue with the numbers. Bummer though, as fees are indeed re-dick.
  12. Sadly, this also means the best Soul Asylum records will be perpetually out of print. Their first 3 albums are unholy jams.
  13. My Sketchy from here was all warped, sleeve-wise as well. Also, the sleeve was printed backwards (so the opening is on the left, not the right). Oh, you Germans! (I think a German label put this out way back when). A Sketchy boxset would be nice on vinyl since he did one on CD. Maybe Jonah should start a Kickstarter for it- seems like his kind of bag.
  14. Doing it right now with my Hot Water Music and a few others. No reason to see 16 copies of Finding the Rhythms on my shelf when it's not even my favorite record. I don't miss any of the records I've sold.
  15. Last time I bought a used record on eBay it was a copy of Through Being Cool that was so fucking beat I laughed out loud when it showed up. Luckily, I think Amazon mandates a return policy and I sent that ish right back!
  16. Great collection and great site, dude! My brother cut the graphic off his Enjoy! shirt and I used it as a back patch for a while. I did notice you're missing one from the '97-ish era. My friend Liz (from Libyans!) had it- just a light ash gray shirt with a dolphin and Descendents logo on it. I think she got it at Warped. Not sure if you know it was around!
  17. My question is why the label even agreed to license to this guy. Is he friends with them or something? Tons of legit people would have paid the appropriate licensing fees to put these records out.
  18. Can't justify paying $35 to have this shipped to the States, but awesome that there's a version down in Oz! Any US distributors picking this up so I could get it over here with a cheaper shipping option?
  19. I know I'm the only one searching, but I'll be damned if I can find any fucking Anniversary records. Better off searching anniversary +"get up kids" for that ish.
  20. I do wish the Kevin Seconds split would go up there so I could make one big order! Or add those Sketchy 10" to your online store, Jonah!
  21. As far as I know, the best sounding copy of this record is the 2005 repress with original mix and cover art. They don't come up often (and they're even more often confused with original originals), but I hear it's worth getting. God, we sound like Beatles nerds with this shit.
  22. There's also a red vinyl version of Visitors and (Jonah, correct me if I'm wrong) a clear vinyl version of the Sketchy 10". Could be wrong about the latter, but I have both pressings of Visitor.
  23. Very bummed I missed the Floyd test press. The "Making Things With Light" test is the only one I own that I'll keep. Thanks for the heads up.
  24. W.T.F.??? haha wow... Top two bidders have 90% of their bidding history with new_math. Not sure if that means shill bidding, but something strange is afoot with that $15 record.
  25. I guess technically my first concert was Weird Al's Stupid Tour in 1984, though I was only 3. We still have the t-shirt! Went to a Bad Hair Day record signing to see if he'd sign it but they said he was only signing his new record so we got out of line. Turns out he was signing everything. One regret, man... one regret...
