Thanks for explaining this. I always thought that because most of the amps that we consider "vintage" were made in the 70s-80s when records were the main music source, they would have a pretty good built-in phono preamp. I guess not...

Care to elaborate what the big difference is in running the turntable through the pre-amp first compared to just straight to the amp? From the looks of it I guess it's a vintage (Kenwood? Onkyo?) amp. If so, it already has a good phono stage, no? Thanks!
