  1. I ordered the black record a few days ago. Then i got this message today: Hi there, Thanks for purchasing the new Dumb Numbers album! As you probably noticed, the limited purple/pink edition sold out in less than 24 hours, and lot of folks were pretty bummed about that. Even though we can't ethically re-press a limited release, we also don't want to deprive a colored vinyl edition from anyone... So: we decided to press the album on another (non-limited edition) color besides black: ELECTRIC BLUE! We wanted to give you all a chance to upgrade your black vinyl purchases to electric blue if you so desire, the cost is only $3. Just follow the link here: http://www.joyfulnoiserecordings.com/dumb-numbers-blue-vinyl-upgrade.html ...and your original order will automatically be upgraded to electric blue. The link above will expire in approx. 48 hours, so upgrade soon if you are interested! Cheers, >>>> I thought that was a cool thing to do so i did it. Happy Customer
  2. Short Story: The Cure - Kiss Me x3 Porno for Pyros - S/t (very nice tie-dye record) Titus Andronicus - RSD At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command Deep Purple/Type O Negative - Highway Star Doors/X - Soul Kitchen South Park - San Diego Uncluded- Delicate Cycle Demosexual - 7" everything i wanted plus more. much more than i wanted to spend. Long Story: I called the night before to make sure that all the records i wanted were gonna be there. They were cool and told me how many of each one they had. I got to Schoolkids around 7am, about an hour before it opened. There were about 30 people in line ahead of me. Started up conversations with "So, what are you here to get?" and that pretty much kept the dialog going for the next hour. Owner came out and explained the rules: you're in line, stay in line from here to the aisles to the cash register, don't cut ahead, wait and be patient. Only 1 copy per person. He's a great guy, everyone here loves that he owns the store now. Everything for RSD was down the middle aisle in alphabetical order; 12", 7", dvd's, swag, etc. Only one annoying complaint i'd like to file here: I knew what i wanted, so when i flipped through the bins it was easy to find everything. It's pretty simple when all the titles are together, when you see what the first one is, you can just flip forward all 10-20 copies to the next color jacket. Well, there was a guy about 4 people ahead of me who fingered each title and each album like every one was different and he had to see it, very slowly. I'd understand if he was lookin for a variant or a numbered edition, but that wasn't the case here. Half-way down the aisle, one guy behind him asked him if he could skip ahead of him. He starts to remind the guy that cutting wasn't allowed, but this dude wasn't asking, he went straight around him to the check-out line. Ok so we're all standing there waiting for this guy to touch every album in the store, the line in front of him as moved on and checked out, the line behind me is starting to lean around to see what the hold up is. I've had the opportunity to pick up a few albums i wasn't even interested in, but since they line isn't moving and i'm just standing there; might as well read all the cover labels on that Flaming Lips box set...(if only my parents had a trust fund in my name). Then i notice the next two guys finally just go around him. So i'm the next guy now and this dude is sweating. The kind of sweat that started to pour down his face in streams. He's dripping on records! it wasn't like it was hot inside the store. After standing out in the cold, it was actually very comfortable inside. He was on the last bin before the 7"s and i finally said "hey, man i'm just gonna step around you to the 7"s and let you finish" to which he starts to huff and shake his head, which makes more sweat fall on records... I grabbed the ones i wanted and got out. I'm not sayin the dude was wrong, i'm just tryin to tell a story here. relating an experience. This guy was sweating out on RSD!
  3. pm'd - nice collection, very familiar!
  4. Done. I needed to cross this off my list of "albums i need to buy on vinyl". This album is the mark that all other Primus albums are measured by. Most are uncomparable. Looks like SRC has it cheaper than the amazon link above: http://www.shopradiocast.com/products/Primus-%252d-Sailing-The-Seas-Of-Cheese-(reissue)-LP.html also here: http://www.elusivedisc.com/PRIMUS-SAILING-THE-SEAS-OF-CHEESE-200g-LP/productinfo/UNILP73312/
  5. this is insane! but think about it: why should they waste the money paying for creating/producing/promoting a new album when they can just take 6 song EP that made them famous 20 years ago, rework the art and sell it 1500% more money than it originally cost. maybe its covering the legal fees for getting ownership back. personally, i'd rather see them make a new album.
  6. oh wow- they gots pic now: Green w/ Orange splat http://www.relapse.com/blood-drive-lp-83143.html Red Yellow w/ Green splat http://www.relapse.com/blood-drive-lp-83144.html green w/ orange is a mailorder exclusive and it's $2 less than the red/yellow/green. good because i kinda like the green one better anyway>
  7. man - another day, another new album from a good band! this is getting expensive! i'd like to see the red/orange/green...
  8. cool! can't wait to hear what they got now>
  9. Relapse updated the photo in the link above. It has a nice shot of the red/black now. Looks awesome! Can't wait till it comes>
  10. I got the record this weekend too. Awesome album. Somewhere between 'Pure Rock Fury' and 'Blast Tyrant' Better than the last 3 albums combined. Can't wait to see em again when they come to town!
  11. I was born & raised in New Orleans so i have a deep appreciation for Dixieland Jazz... That said, I've been buying up any Pete Fountain record i can come across. I also get Al Hirt, Dukes of Dixieland, of course Louis Armstrong, Preservation Jazz Hall, etc. Then, most recently, some Galactic albums are available on vinyl as well as Trombone Shorty. Jazz sounds so good on a clean vinyl. I can actually hear why the purists and audiophiles argue for vinyl. Maybe it was the way it was recorded that makes it sound so good.
  12. Alice in Wonderland OST (not the story retelling) Bedknobs & Broomsticks Fantasia/Fantasia II (Box Set) Songs of The South OST Dumbo - When Elephants Fly 7" ("good ol fashion racism") Tangled
  13. (via Relapse): Howl returns to the scene with ‘Bloodlines’ the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut full length ‘Full Of Hell’. Several years of relentless touring with the likes of Saint Vitus, Kylesa, Pentagram and many many more has paid off in spades, as ‘Bloodlines’ finds Howl having grown into a fully developed metal beast. With producer Zeus (Hatebreed, Crowbar, Terror, etc) at the helm, Howl have settled into their groove as masters of the riff. This is a pummeling, aggressive, muscle-y record that will leave you humming its hooks after it kicks out your teeth. Pressing Info: First Press 700 x Black Standard Gram 300 x Red and Black http://www.relapse.com/bloodlines-lp-black-83039.html
  14. This thread made me do it! I didn't order till two weeks ago and still got the green; came in last week. Awesome album. Great packaging. Can't believe 'green' was only /100 and i still got one> Now i'm really ready for TimeHealsNothing~
  15. I ripped this record about a week ago. Slip was such a great pressing I didn't need to tweak anything so i wanted to see how good Manic Compression was. This was the first record i actually had to turn the levels down to keep it from bleeding over. I forgot just how 'loud' this album was. The pressing did not disappoint. It kept me busy for a few hours trying to get the EQ just right. Sounds great in the car and at the office now!
  16. I have some records that my dad played when i was < 5. These were the records that i first learned how to drop a needle on: Cat Stevens - Where Do the Children Play Elton John - Honkey Chateau Beatles - white album Neil Diamond - Taproot Manuscript Needless to say, they're scratched up as hell. I've since bought re-issues and better versions, but i still have these originals that I will never get rid of. I have a story about nearly every one of my records.
  17. wow. we're not even complaining about the first released single here. we're complaining about a font? i saw it and thought: what a cool shot of NYC! check out that fog! vampire's in a city. ooooh. i see! but i guess some people never liked Star Wars because of that ridiculous font they used.
  18. But i think the best part about the PO from Vampire Weekend: it's only $14! that's a reasonably priced vinyl record- what a strange concept!
  19. I got 'Slip' in the red-swirl and 'Manic Compression' in green-swirl. I was more impressed with the red; the green was a little dark and you gotta be in a good amount of light to really see it well. Did anyone else get both albums in green-swirl and do they look the same?
  20. I got mine in good time (this time) But i just noticed the misprint: 'Landmine Spring' is on Side A, not B as shown on back cover and inner labels. Do I smell a 2nd re-issue?
  21. good. i'm glad there's some other people who know/love Criteria. (that means they remember White Octave too, right?)
  22. anyone else remember when "good news for people who love bad news" came out? same reactions.
