  1. from Mastodonrocks.com Mastodon's "The Hunter" will be available on November 15th as a limited edition vinyl: 1 LP, 140 gram, black vinyl and a limited edition deluxe vinyl: 2 LP, 45rpm, 180 gram, color vinyl.
  2. Definately listening to this album right now. Black Tongue "you killed the light!"
  3. Just bought Orange from the JSBX site. Now my collection is complete!
  4. Black Tusk on Golden Monkey Marble. These three guys... rock
  5. Nice. I just heard the new single (Bad As Me). Sounds great too! But i wonder why the vinyl version doesn't get the bonus tracks? maybe you can get them on the download card? I'm buyin!
  6. I wish the Melvins would just tour through my town again so i wouldn't get so depressed at how much their ultra-limited vinyl is costing lately! I want a live "residency" show too!
  7. (don't call me stupid!) i had to replace my stereo in the econoline when the tape player finally broke. so i got an alpine with ipod cable and it sounds great, storage is great, yeyeyeah... But where's the fun of rewinding to the beginning of the song? where's the chart exposing the truth: cassette tapes are making a come-back! Maxell XLII-90 are still sold behind the counter! and used record sales aren't reported because then the RIAA would need an even bigger army of lawyers to sue all the thrift stores/dealers for actually profiting off of their artists' copyrighted music!
  8. There can never be too many Dinosaur Jr. records in this world...
  9. Your website has a description of an album by Common... Yeah, I keep hearing that the 'Strange Cousins' is a real nice vinyl package. But I never thought the music on that album had any balls.
  10. Besides their early EP and 7's, I know they made "Jam Room" and "Slow Hole to China" available on vinyl in the US. Why are they so slow at releasing their standard albums on wax? Still waiting on a nice "Blast Tyrant" vinyl...

  12. Looks like BSM is carrying a 'white vinyl' version exclusively. http://www.becausesoundmatters.com/product/strap-it-white-vinyl
  13. so you've been collecting since you were 3? heheh- yep! First record i bought, Nillson "The Point", at a Montgomery Ward in Charleston,SC and i still treasure it. see because every record has a story~! and yeah- i try to keep my OCD habits hidden from my children too.
  14. Been "collecting" music for 35 years. Back then... music stores were all vinyl. Then tapes. Then the switch to cd's in late 80's. You had to argue with people over how much better cd's sounded. Vinyl lost that arguement and eventually left the music stores and that's when the second-hand stores started popping up and people's vinyl collections ended up in thrift stores. I would always buy used records just to hear em. Most of the time i would tape it and then trade it back for a different record. I kept the ones i really liked or i'd shop around for one in better condition. My college years 1990-95 were all cd (anyone remember the long box? i collected those!). But i brought my ttable and spun records from time to time in the dorm room. Still, the only thing available in stores were used records. Then when Crooked Beat Records opened in downtown Raleigh in the late 90's, I started buying new vinyl records again. Bands like Shellac, June of 44, White Octave, Theory of Ruin... punk/metal bands that wanted to package music on something worth while. In the 90's you had to argue with people about 'do records sound better than cd's'. Then napster blew up. Why buy music anymore? iTunes made paying for it cool again. And now labels have figured out that people will actually pay 'more' for vinyl than the cd now. Which is what they said when they first started making cd, just happened to all go up in price. So sure, i guess collecting variants and stuff is cool, but is can get expensive. I still buy records (old and new) and rip em, sell em back, trade up and keep the ones i really like. I like the limited editions, the colors, even the re-issues. So my point is that when you live long enough you realize nothing has changed.
  15. Still waiting for my colored order from InSound. Maybe today?
  16. What great news for Friday! That last album, Hellbilly Joker (post-released on his old label), was so good I had to buy it despite his protestation. But now i hope he can recoup some money with a bunch of new albums. Sounds diverse. I'll be buyin them too!
  17. I already have the seafoam green version but this latest press is beautiful. Very tempting. Very awesome to hide this in a Mastodon thread. And i'm so glad i found it. I've been looking for this record for a while now. And always wanted a "blue" version. Thanks for the tip!
  18. any progress to report? I don't need a 'test'. i just want one copy to love and cherish.
  19. i REALLY REALLY want this. i lv the color. but $30? do you think it'll even hold value?
  20. Really? Is his solo material worth it? sounds like a money grab.
  21. damn that was fast and expensive. i sure hope lars can afford the gold plated cocktail bar now...
  22. googled "vinyl record blog" and eventually got in here. snuck around a few months just to get the vibe. joined last month. tryin to bump up my posts. here's #6.
  23. I wouldn't mind gettin Robot-Hive/Exodus either. Beale St i could leave out, but that cover looks like it shoulda been a picture disc already! We'll see what happens this year...
  24. Any Clutch fans in here? I've been getting reports since last year about Clutch reissuing their albums on Cd and also vinyl. They were supposed to be on Blast Tyrant about a year ago. The CD version just got reissued in May '11. But still no word on what the vinyl status is. Does anyone have any? So far, only the vinyl to come out was "Strange Cousins From the West" (meh) through their own label, Weathermaker. Blast Tyrant is the last album I really liked, so i'm willing to buy a nice vinyl package if it ever comes out. call me el jefe
