I just think it's worth noting that 1. I despise paypal and 2. I wouldn't trust my bank with my niece's piggy bank. (Wells Fargo, but that goes for any bank)  Under any circumstance I have the option-I pay with CREDIT CARD.  Even when paying with paypal, I pay with my Mastercard or Discover via paypal.  Sure, they make you manually switch payment from bank account to CC on every single transaction, but it's worth it in cases something goes wrong.  I bypass Paypal and go straight to the CC company to file the chargeback.   I've been buying useless commodities online, on many different websites, since about 1999.  Needless to say, with all the idiots out there, I've needed to file my share of chargebacks.  I've had problems with banks & with paypal getting my money back, but in only 1 instance did my CC company NOT get my money back.  And that was in an eBay auction some dicknose sold me a car audio amplifire that was damaged, but he had the stipulations "sold AS-IS" printed in his auction.  I've bought many "as-is" car audio products, never had a problem, except with that one guy.  He told them I broke it...  I still have his address & plan on throwing a brick through some of his property if I ever drive through South Carolina, for the record.

Damn it, i was cooking chili when these went up and i forgot. Oh well, at least i have chili.

See, all I'm trying to do is inspire some meaningful conversation in this thread if it's going to continue occupying a top spot on the board. I'm not "white knighting" this record, I'm just interested in hearing educated opinions rather than listening to the high school mentality of "hating production 'cause it sucks" or "that song sucks 'cause it's like, sucky" and such. Those are indeed valid as your opinion, but I was asking for more depth in your reasoning (as well as the countless others who hate it "'cause it sucks") in hopes of having an actual conversation about the record. I will now kindly back on out of this discussion because it appears that any hopes of holding a mature conversation have definitely been in vain.

Honestly it's an opinion thing. I don't find the album that awful. I can also see why many wouldn't like it.
 
The vinyl variants look interesting. As much as I think the album artwork suits the title in many ways it really is too bad the sleeve doesn't look like this (Sidenote: I'm not pro or against using the term "white knighting" and this post is in no way supporting or encouraging people being called white knights. That is unless they work at Medieval Times and it is their job. On the other hand I don't really care so I'm not discouraging it.):
 

You people claiming the production is lacking sure could use some actual evidence instead of just saying it sucks. It's actually pretty great. Every instrument/vocal fits neatly in its sound space, it is all mixed well, the vocals are neither too high nor too low... it comes off like a bunch of you are just saying that for the sake of saying it. Not saying that you are, but provide some actual evidence as opposed to just word-vomiting whatever you think sounds harsh.

I'm not sure you read the previous posts but we were just going back and forth. I don't know what you mean by "no need for this". I think it got my OPINION across pretty clearly in that post and Cwhitmuzik has shown he can take a few jokes or zingers. The reason for the facepalm was that he keeps criticizing the album and then admits he hasn't listened to it.
 
It's fine to not like the music but if I like something, I'm going to encourage other people to give it a chance. My friends encouraged me not to write this one off because my initial criticism was very harsh...glad I didn't. If he is a fan of Transit and going to see them in the next few weeks, I would simply like for him to enjoy the new songs. If he can't, he can't. I didn't like it at all on the first listen and didn't really feel it on the second listen. When I don't really feel an album on the first listen from a band I like, I usually give it a few listens. I tried the new TSSF 3 or 4 times and I still just don't like it. I'll probably listen to it again and I won't be skipping through the songs.

Aslo to anyone that doesnt like this album, use the money you were going to spend on this to buy the new Restorations album "LP2". You wont regret that.

I give your opinion a 9/10. Given how much I liked this opinion I will now more harshly scrutinize future opinions. A bar has been set, if said bar is not surpassed I will actually be doubly disappointed in you for not exceeding my expectations of you and your opinions.

I don't understand the people that say it was a well written review...too much fluff, fours across the board, unnecessarily harsh word selection while pretending to be a fan of the band, rumors of a breakup, the random comparison to Daisy, etc.
 
I've read some of his other reviews and certainly enjoyed them. I'm not in the business of giving reviews, music blogs, or whatever it is that AP does but he should probably try to be a bit more diplomatic in his negative reviews. Some of the commentary seemed a bit disrespectful and if you actually read the review instead of saying "Yeah this record sucks" then it's pretty easy to pick up on those lines. I think that's where the backlash is coming from. However, the band's response is absolutely unforgivable.
 
Good reviewers write bad reviews. I'm not about to write Thomas Nassiff off, and I hope no one else will, either.

Funny - he writes a negative review and he's trying to defend it by calling out people for negatively reviewing his negative review? He has every right to post his review, but they have every right to respond to it. If he's going to get all butt-hurt about it, maybe he needs to consider a new job. This calls to mind an instance where Ryan Adams called a critic that gave him a negative review and left him an angry voice mail.
 
But, the real question is... WHO THE FUCK CARES WHAT A REVIEWER ON ABSOLUTEPUNK HAS TO SAY ( I get it, they're big in the scene and whatnot)? It's his own take on the record, though his addition of break-up rumors is pretty poor. Although, that's the kind of garbage that keeps me from going to the site. Let them go jerk off while listening to the newest hype band that still straightens their hair and overproduces the shit out of their vocals. Since I can form my own opinions, I'll keep my new Transit record in rotation because I think it's pretty damn good. Even "Young New England" has grown on me. Like most have said on here, sometimes you have to spend time with a record before you can fully appreciate it.
