The implication with Montador is that he took his own life. There have been a few stories pointing to him dealing with concussion-related depression since his career wound down. Sad.

I think Carlyle was the scapegoat for their organizational failures. I'm old, and I've been rooting for them since Doug Favell was a neighbor of mine in Mississauga in the 70's (no way any of you know of him since that really dates me). But I've freaking had it......each year they fail to show progress defensively, and so many of the players leave and do markedly better elsewhere. They just finished a road trip where they blew multiple goal leads more than once (both Florida games I believe) and they are 2nd to last in the league in shots against(shocking!). Year after year, nothing really changes. A shortage of leadership, and players that underperform and are overpaid. What is firing Carlyle going to solve? I don't think Scotty Bowman could turn around this bunch. The team isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so might as well start selling at the trade deadline. And yeah, I get why the Leafs are hated....their franchise isn't very likable, and I presume their games are still jammed down everyone's throats on TV in Canada no matter how far they are out of contention. I don't have kids, but if I did I sure as hell wouldn't want mine growing up rooting for a team that might not win a Cup in my lifetime.

Better than being a Leafs fan(me). Although if you're too young to remember their glory days of the 80's you have my sympathies.

Don't worry about the age difference. As you get older you'll realize it's just a state of mind anyways. What is more important is that you both have similar ideas about the future if you're going to live together. Want kids? Do you see yourself staying over there for many more years? If not, is she cool with it? Sounds like you found a good match.

I usually make mine at night, and I don't have an icemaker so if I want it cold in the morning it has to go in the fridge. If you don't mind expermenting, I'd recommend the bruer...with the build quality caveat. The glass is extremely thin, so if you're ok with handling it with care you'll be fine. Mine doesn't get put on the granite counter or in the fridge unless there is a kitchen towel underneath it. With that said, it does create some tasty brew and their customer service seems top-notch. If you check out the blog on their site they have some really cool, geeky experiments they've done.

There is a control valve on the top, which is rotated to get the desired speed. The thing is that sometimes a perfect drip rate at room temp (when setting up) can slow down drastically when putting the unit in the fridge due to the condensation/cooling. http://www.bruer.co/pages/instuctions What model do you have? Pretty much every model I've seen is the immersion method. I wish these guys would do a V2 and make it a stronger unit with a few other design changes.

I don't remember if there was a $ amount limit, but one of two things always happened. Either the regular carrier was on the route to pick up the gift, or the temp/rotating carrier brought the gift back to the PO (never kept for him/her if it wasn't their route). Neither instance would involve a carrier saying 'this is too much' and having to reject the gift.

I was a mailman for a while. Tips were very much appreciated, but as stated above they can't take cash. So if you're going to do so a gift card makes their day. As for how they are paid, more and more of them are 'casual' (temps) so I wouldn't assume they're making a ton of money. Less pay/benefits, no union coverage and no long term job security. It's not an easy job, and much more physical than it looks, so for those of you leaving tips - you guys rule!
