This might not change your interpretation but I had the record packed and ready to ship, however, it just sat on my dresser for 5 days because the seller did not approve the return through eBay.They had a clear simple message sent to them from eBay with a button that said "Approve Return" and they had 5 days to click it and I would have received a tracked shipping label from eBay and sent the record back.
Instead, the seller ignored it for 2 days and, when I politely checked in about the request, they said they never received the request return from eBay and asked me to send the record directly to them.
When I sent them a link to the eBay request where they could click "Accept Return", they said "Oh, thanks" and then wrote a comment on the request saying "I already told the buyer to return the package." They didn't reply to me after that, so I just accepted that, for whatever reason, they didn't want to process the return in a way that eBay could track and log.
3 days later, the time window for the seller to take action ended (eBay gives sellers 5 days to approve returns or deny them) and within a few minutes eBay auto-closed the refund request and issued a courtesy refund. I never requested a courtesy refund or used Jedi mind tricks to make all these steps happen that led to me receiving a kind of refund I never knew existed.
In the span of those 5 days, I called eBay and verified that I was proceeding correctly and the customer support member told me "Yes. You want to keep all communication and transactions through eBay." So, I figured I was doing what I should be.
The seller was not charged. As far as I know, my courtesy refund has not caused or participated in a butterfly effect that has impacted millions of eBay sellers and cost them money.
And I 100% assure you I was not bragging about getting a free record. I was anxious because I was recently sent a big, long message saying I was a liar and thief and 4 paragraphs of other things, I didn't know if it would continue into a bigger deal, and I wanted to hear if other people had experienced the same thing and had stories to share.
Finally, I really don't understand the wife's panties line. I mean, I get the direct connection to throwing down and wife's panties but I don't think you remove a woman's underwear by throwing them down. It's more of a pulling down action. Or, if you are more into communication, you would ask the woman to remove them through words or behavioral cues, so it'd be "engaging in consensual sex-ing down". Also, I was diffusing aggression by being facetious and now I feel bad that I may have unintentionally deflected the aggression to an innocent party's panties.

I had two chances to get clear and clear red but didn't have sufficient funds. Seriously regretting it. If anyone is selling their clears, I'm interested.

    Scratch that.

The term "punisher" really struck a nerve with you. Just to be clear, not every buyer is a punisher, nor is every buyer who leaves negative or neutral feedback a punisher. A punisher is a buyer who puts unrealistic expectations on a seller, doesn't communicate their grievances before filing a claim or airing details of a bad transaction, or makes unreasonable requests of the seller, i.e. demanding a tracking number moments after paying and opening a claim if the seller doesn't respond within a day; freaking out over a minor scratch on a $4 record; constantly messaging about the whereabouts of a record when the tracking number clearly states what's going on; etc.... I've rarely dealt with punishment from buyers. And the one time I got neutral feedback it was warranted because I didn't notice an issue upon inspection. That said, reading this thread and others here makes it evident that there are a number of punishers among us.
Like Derby said, if everyone adheres to the "don't be a dick" rule, all will be well.

I agree with you mostly, but...I'm not sure how this ^^ is a thing. Seems like the perfect situations in which to use the neutral feedback button.

Here's an example that I think works for neutral feedback:

Bought and Elektra pressing of Ride the Lightning from a dude on discogs. He listed it as vg+ vinyl and jacket. I specifically asked him, "have you played this recently, no skips, no pops?"
He says, "Yup, no clicks, nothing."
I said, "Ok, great. I'm in."
Mails it to me, I open it up and it has deep scratches on side B, I give him the benefit of the doubt and give it a spin...significant skips, just where I expected them.
I message him. "Hey dude, I'm getting some ridiculous skips on side B on very visible scratches."
He replies, "Oh, yeah, I only played side A. Send it back for a refund?"
    "Yup."
Sent it back for a refund. Gave him neutral feedback and stated "Item description incorrect, easy to work with on refund. Good guy."
I don't think he was trying to scam me, just being lazy which caused me inconvenience as a buyer and tied up money for a little while, but he was nice and understanding about my concerns, therefore, neutral feedback with a positive comment.

    As a seller: Under-promise and over-achieve.
As a buyer: expect the worst.
Like ebay states, "try resolving issues directly with seller." Filing a claim should be a last, LAST resort.
If under-graded, request partial refund from seller.
If seller is unwilling, return for refund.
If seller is unwilling, open claim w/eBay.
DO NOT open a claim while item return is in progress, that's lame.
ALWAYS CONTACT SELLER IF THERE IS A PROBLEM !!!!
Negative feedback is for scammers and rip-off artists.
I don't think I've ever left a neutral, not leaving any feedback is my neutral.
If you get a less than perfect record, and a partial refund = positive feedback.
If you return record for a refund = positive feedback.
Obviously damaged in transit, NOT DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING, NOT the sellers fault, sorry.
Sealed records that are damaged??? NOT the sellers fault. (I'm not talking about seam splits, that IS improper packaging)

Until you get that special breed of punisher that thinks you control the post office and they get mad when the tracking number shows no movement for a few days.

One example of getting punished would be having a buyer get upset with you for not shipping out an item or updating them with tracking after one business day.

Gimmick records are such a waste. And most turntables won't even be able to play this. Not like it's worth setting up a record for 30 seconds of playback. Dumb.

In theory, this is the answer. But it doesn't work in practice, because of intimidation and corruption within the police department. Frank Serpico tried to do this, and he got shot in the face because when he called for backup, the other cops ignored him. He lived, but still... he got set up to get murdered because he tried to address police corruption. The guy took a .22 to the face trying to do the right thing, and it was no accident.

Cops are the problem. Racism is a huge part of this, too - yeah, cops kill black people indiscriminately and they get off. Did Darren Wilson kill Mike Brown for no reason? We will not ever know for sure, but my answer is "probably," after reading his testimony. In truth, though, it doesn't matter. Look at all the other people cops have killed for no reason - they can be black, they can be Hispanic, they can be Asian, and yes, they can even be white (it does happen). Most often they are mentally ill, suicidal, or a minority - and none of those things are crimes.

So the more I see this addressed as an issue of race, the less hope I have for this very serious issue being solved. The more you marginalize and specialize it, the less it seems to be the gigantic fucking problem that it is, because police brutality is without any shadow of doubt the biggest problem Americans face and will face in the future as police forces are militarized. You can fight me on that point, but you won't be when an officer kicks in your door and shoots your daughter in the head.

Is it an issue of race? Yes, absolutely. Mike Brown was probably shot by Darren Wilson just because he fit the profile of a robbery suspect and was black. Akai Gurley was "accidentally" gunned down in a stairwell just a few days ago, and he was black. (That one was actually ruled a homicide, so there's a +1 for the "justice" system.) But it is not strictly a race issue. Realize that, everyone, and maybe we will come a step closer to collapsing the police state.

Also, as an aside: Peaceful protest does not generally work regardless of this factor, but it especially does not work when the police are armed with tanks. Violent protest is the answer here, and there's really no question about that. When cops are facing the same problems civilians are - that is, being gunned down because they are cops (and maybe they're not even committing a crime, and maybe they're not even criminals) - this problem will be solved. I'm not saying "Kill cops," but that provides some perspective, doesn't it?
