thetrackt
All, Any idea of the best/most efficient vinyl record storage bags are out there? To be clear, I'm talking about the bags that go over the sleeve and house everything so they don't get damaged or whatever. Any suggestions appreciated. vinyl addict
I use the SC sleeves as well, but I prefer the 3mm resealable ones. I slide them on so the flap is on the same side as the opening in the jacket. Just peel the flap back and slide the LP out. Don't even have to get my fingerprints on the jacket! boops_popmarket
I was all about the 5 mil for a bit but I realized I actually prefer their economy sleeves. The crystal clear ones look cool and they are high quality but they slip around a ton and I prefer the tighter grip and no-slip qualities of the less clear, more affordable sleeves they sell. For inner sleeves, I had the same experience with their Ultimate Audiophile sleeves. I actually prefer their version that only has one paper side, like the MoFi sleeves, over the Ultimates which have two paper sides.
arem
I agree about the Ultimate Outer 5.0, they are nice but a little too thick and stiff for me, and they get weird folds and creases if the jackets are too thick. I prefer the 2.5 mil sleeves, they are just as clear as the 5.0 and easier to use. I prefer the single-sided inner sleeves as well. For 7 inches I've found that the Bags Unlimited poly-lined paper sleeves are better than the Sleeve City ones.

SandwichRecords
I've been using the sleeve city 2.0 anti-static inner sleeves, which don't have any paper lining. What's the advantage of the paper lining mentioned in the above replies?
arem
The paper lined sleeves hold their shape much better, plastic sleeves on their own are more annoying than paper sleeves IMO. SandwichRecords
boops_popmarket
^ It keeps the sleeve sturdy so you can slip the record in and out without bunching or folding the sleeve or its corners. I use MoFis mostly but I slightly prefer the SleevCity version as their paper side is a little sturdier. MoFis still bunch slightly at times. Freki
I've experienced no issues with the paperless ones.
vinyl addict
Anyone use the bags unlimited outer sleeves? The resealable ones from SC are backorder for the next 8-10 weeks. I was thinking of going with these. They are the closest to the SC ones, and about 1/2 the cost. https://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-5307-12-record-jacket-sleeve-with-resealable-flap.aspx Or these... https://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-6308-record-jacket-sleeve-with-resealable-flap.aspx

They suck. They are super thin, relatively noisy, and comically oversized. They also tear when reopening after a short period of time. I had a bag or two. I stopped using them and threw the remainder away. They are garbage. These are very nice. http://www.elusivedisc.com/Japanese-12-Vinyl-Resealable-Outer-Sleeves-100-Pack/productinfo/JPNOUTERLP/
vinyl addict
Yeah I'm looking for something similar in price and quality to the SC ones. 3 mil, high quality, and $20 for 50. Thanks for the heads up though, glad I didn't buy them.

dolt
I've never had a problem with the Bags Unlimited resealable sleeves, and I've put them on hundreds of records. Regardless of where you buy them, resealable is the way to go, especially if you buy a lot of used records. Sooner or later, you'll end up with a record that smells like a moldy basement/garage/etc., and resealable sleeves keep that stench from stinking up your place. Then there's the fact that yeah, they protect the covers and so on. For the BU sleeves, I prefer the 12 5/8" ones - even though they're a "snug fit" according to them, they fit most double-LPs that I own. https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/5308/12-record-jacket-sleeve-with-resealable-flap
